Great board
I just upgraded from a Donner pedal board, which served me well but was maxed out and I wanted to add a couple pedals. The other issue I kept running into was with having two rows of pedals, I would accidentally kick the knobs of other pedals when trying to turn another pedal on or off. More than once I kicked the volume knob on my overdrive pedal at a gig and things got crazy loud.… read more The Holeyboard solved that for me by having a raised platform for the second row. I love that the board is modular and got an extra module 3 so I could have both my volume and wah pedal on the board. The zip ties make keeping the pedals on the board really easy and I thought it was an easy fun project to assemble the whole thing. I'm looking forward to playing gigs with this and putting it to the test, but I'm sure it'll be great since it's been awesome while practicing.
Holeyboard
Great board, very easy to build!
Love this pedalboard for its modular flexibility
This pedalboard has opened up new possibilities for how I arrange and use effects trains. If you think about each board, even the smaller flat extension board (advertised for large wah, volume pedals etc), as an independent module, you can set up separate boards for separate purposes. For example, board one can be your primary signal processing, like boost, drive, distortion, compression,… read more EQ etc (i.e. what makes your core tone), then board two can be arranged with reverb, delay, chorus, phaser, and more experimental effects, such as for doing ambient music or otherwise. Then, you have the option of either connecting both boards physically (with the supplied screws), or keeping them separate depending on what kind of gig or music you are playing. For example, I go to blues and funk jams with just the primary board (my core tone), but when I come home, I connect it to board two for my ambient and more experimental playing. I don't even have to screw them together necessarily, just run them side-by-side. Or, if I want to build a larger board or effects train, I physically connect each board and overlap them at any extension width for lots of flexibility. I have also set up the third smaller flat board with a bunch of mini pedals and use it as a standalone board for another amp I have, which is super fun. I have previously fit around 5 mini pedals and a mini power supply on it, but now use this as a small experimental board for mixing and matching just a few effects (see my photo for example). I am even thinking about purchasing a second one of these small extension boards and connecting two of them together separate from the larger main boards (again, modularity). I also appreciate the extra holes and their spacing on this board versus the previous model, it gives me more options for arranging different sized pedals with zip ties.
Cleaned up my pedal set-up
This is my third pedalboard having used a couple Pedaltrains which had a different purpose and we're great too. This Holeyboard is strictly for home setup and has fit nicely within a music workstation I have setup. Easy to setup, durable, and looks good too. Picture of setup is a work in progress but should work out great.
Holey Board
I've been using the original Holey board but this one is even better. The second level is slanted at just the right angle. I do a one man band thing now and this puts my pedals at just right place so I'm not tripping over my feet. It's a keeper
