Thile Pick

There is nothing that comes closer to the sound of a real tortoise shell pick than the Caesin ones. (Real tortoise is illegal.) Drop a plastic pick on a hard surface and listen to the sound it makes. Now drop a casein one and listen. There are a few quirks with these picks (all casein not just the Thile). You cannot get them wet. Don't put them in your mouth. They also wear. You read more can use some sandpaper and auto polishing compound if they get scratchy. They will eventually break. I always carry a backup in my case. The sound you get with them makes it worth the extra care needed and worth the price. The Thile has a great shape. I have switched to this pic exclusively—I like it a lot.

Broken in half

Went to use my Chris Thile Pick today and it just broke in half. It has been kept in the case with my Mandolin and never in my pocket. Disheartening to say the least.

Love it!!!!

I was really skeptical... $??!!???I understand completely why you'd use this! The tone it gives is lovely and it's like ice skating as it glides over your strings!!! Dynamics are fantastic and the shape is easy to use. Seems to hold up to lots of playing UNTIL!!!! DON'T PUT IT IN YOUR MOUTH AND BITE IT!!!!Mine shattered in about a minute when I played with it again!!Ordering a replacement. read more Or 2

D'Addario 2CA7-01CT Chris Thile Signature Casein 1.4mm Mandolin Pick

Received my new D'Addario Chris Thile Mandolin Pick today and was really surprised at the tone quality of my mandolin. I've been using a BlueChip TAD40 for a while and was happy with it. But, when I saw this new one by D'Addario, I thought I would give it a try. No disappointments!! The tone quality on my mandolin is more smooth and mellow and the pick glides off the strings, read more as compared to my old one. This one is slightly thicker than the BlueChip (which I knew when I ordered it) and I believe that adds to the smoothness. Don't know about the longevity of it, but believe it will be good several years down the road. Worth a try on you mandolin.

Mandolin Pick I’ve been waiting for.

Getting "My Sound" on the mandolin was a challenge. With the awesome help of Aaron Smith at Sweetwater and a Fishman amp and preamp I was close. What I was lacking was a Mandolin pick. I've spent a few weeks and tried almost all the best picks available, Golden Gate, D'Andrea ProPlec, Dunlop Primetones to name a few. The D'Addario Chris Thill is the absolute best pick I've ever read more played. It's fast, balanced, and with great tone especially with vibrato. A pick is a musician tool. This pick has done wonders for my playing time and quality of riffs and I might add, worth every penny! Matthew
