Great tone and quality!
For starters I'm not quite sure what the guy on the review posts said. This cabinet is top notch and LOUD! I am using it with a Bogner Goldfinger Phi head and even at the 9w setting on the amp I have no problem cutting through the mix. Yes it is a heavy cabinet but the quality and tone are so worth it. Also the leather handle is stout and very comfy for your hand. I have always… read more liked the oversized 2x12 cabs and this is by far the best that I've played through in all my years. The speaker compliment is extremely versatile from soul, blues, classic rock to Alice In Chains grunge. Bogner also made this cab look classy. Set up looks great on stage.
Stunning All Around Cab
I've come a long way from straight V30 cabs with closed backs (which I still love) and now have a huge appreciation for mixed speaker cabs especially in 2x12s. This combo is an exquisite match for classic oriented tones and they don't overpower each other. The Greenback 25 has a warmer quieter sound and the Anniversary 30 is super clear and detailed, with more defined sizzle. Blended… read more they are phenomenal, giving you both warmth and clarity which lends well to cleans, low and mid gain, and can even hold together under high gain. The open back allows this amp to "breathe" in the room, sounding awesome in acoustically sound venues. Big, open sound that fills the air. It does have a solid low end and does retain more tightness than I thought it would. I tried it with a Friedman JJ Jr (perfect match), Soldano SLO 30, and Bogner 3534. All three sounded great with the Friedman and Bogner loving it the most. The SLOs clean channel set to crunch mode absolutely sang through this cab. I wouldn't push this cab beyond hard rock; it's just not tight enough to be a death metal cab, but it does sound awesome under ridiculous saturated gain especially when you keep an amp mid-foward. Open chords and leads jump out of the speakers, and it has so much clear resonance with clean tones; you'll have trouble coming off split coil and neck pickups. It's a perfect amp for all cleaner tones, classic rock and hard rock; it's super flexible and expressive with all the right amount of resonance for both gigging and jamming/recording at home. Only having 50 watts might concern some, but it definitely is loud and makes lunchbox amps sound huge. It was made to pair with the Goldfinger 45 Superlead, which I've never played, but judging from demos and specs you can guess what this cab was made for. It can, however, rip pretty hard with other heads and styles. My ONLY qualm is the top handle versus the size make it awkward to move around and smaller lunch box amps that would sound great through it will not sit well on top with that oddly placed handle. It is light enough but just aqkward. The construction is very solid, it's cleanly assembled and braced, and the tolex work is beautiful. Overall this is a pretty stunning cabinet with sonically awesome sounding speakers.
More speakers or different speakers
To me, this cab is kind of strange. It's an oversized and offset 2 speakers oversized cab. Really I don't know which amp it would fit well. Bogner doesn't really have an amp at Sweetwater that makes sense to go with this. I feel like if you have a cab this big you might as well go for 4 speakers. I also did not like the handle. It feels solid but it's quite hard to use… read more because it's in an awkward spot. Handles on the sides might be better. The handle also is too big to let many heads sit properly on it. Overall I would not suggest spending this much money on a cab rated for this small of watts/volume.
Finally!!
A very high quality Birch Cabinet for starters, Classic 30 plus a Greenback!
