Warm Sound - Natural Feel

Nick B

I am, by all accounts, a complete amateur. However, the Dunlop Brass Fingerpicks have made a HUGE difference in the 1 week since I received them from Sweetwater. I picked up the banjo a few years ago and only ever play around the house. I originally bought some National steel fingerpicks, but found the tone to be too harsh and the pick ill-fitting. After years of playing at read more home bare-fingered, I purchased the Dunlop Brass Fingerpicks from Sweetwater. Immediately I was able to mold them to my big, bass-player fingers. Much more comfortable than any pick I tried before. But more importantly, they had a very natural feel. Minimal adjustment from my bare-finger technique. Very warm, but full sound. Not at all brittle like the picks I've tried before. As always, Sweetwater shipped quickly and followed up with a call and an email, even with such a small order!

Might be the solution

I tried steel fingerpicks ages ago, and they were so brutal on my fingers and so hard to fit that I gave up on them. I went without for a while, but after hearing people say they couldn't here me on a pretty good Gold Tone resonator, I decided I needed something. Plastic ones just didn't fit at all, so I gave these a try. They sound good, and the thinner brass improves the fit read more and comfort. It may be a little too bad that you have to buy twenty to see if two or three work, but if you might find it worth the expense--especially if you need something and nothing else has done the job.

Brass finger picks are best

I would "ditto" the other review. I too played with National metal finger picks, then Dunlop, starting in the early 70s. A couple years ago, I bought these brass picks from Sweetwater. They are a significant improvement. They are stable, you don't need to tighten them on your fingers like a tourniquet, and they ring out when you play. They sound very nice on my National Resonator, read more delivering that unmistakable "dobro" sound loud and clear. The Best!

Brass ficjnger picks

When I first started playing there were no brass finger picks only 'National' and later 'Dunlop' I liked the Dunlop better they were easier to bend to my fingers but theyse brass picks already come beveled so you don't have to modify hardly at all. The sound quality is better than steel to bad Dunlop steel you've been replaced by Brass.
