The Dunlop Jazz III picks are awesome and these are actually better to me. Not to take anything away from the jazz III's but I'm really digging these. If you like the jazz III's do what I did. Order a six pack to try
My Absolute Favorite Guitar Pick!
When I was starting out on my guitar journey a friend had me try his Kirk Hammett Jazz III and I liked it so much that I went out and bought a Jazz III variety pack at my local guitar store because that was the only way I could get one. After trying many other picks I find that the Kirk Hammett Jazz III is still my favorite; closely followed by the John Petrucci black Jazz III and… read more the Dunlop Adamas graphite pick.
Glide The Lightning
I'm on of those Jazz pick purists who collects every type of them. I've seen mixed reviews on the Kirk Hammett green pick, particularly about the center "v" shaped cut. I actually found it quite comfortable as it added friction thus, grip depending on how you held it. There were times where I was recording and my guitar solos weren't happening. I'd reach for the Kirk Hammett pick… read more and without question, I'd nail the solo or performance that I was listening for. Because of the success that I was having with the green pick, I was beyond excited to get my hands on the purple pick from Sweetwater. The pick appears darker than the photo. In fact, I didn't see any purple sparkles until light started to reflect off of it from different angles. The touch felt more soft and "gel-like" compared to other Jazz picks. Now, I don't do a lot of sweep picking because ... everyone does nice sweeps. So what do I do for my test video? Sweeps. To my surprise, that little video got an unexpected positive reaction because like I said, I don't really sweep. This pick literally glided off of the strings so smooth that it was almost effortless. Alternate picking was a bit trickier because the pick practically takes off so I had to sort of adjust my speed accordingly. In other words, this is a multi-purpose pick ideal for all styles with the perfect amount of glide for your speed runs. So pick up some of these KH picks and Glide The Lightning!!!
