All colors on back order & that should tell you something
It's a rocker or a clean cutting tone machine, it's all about how good your support gear is. I can take it to overdrive, distortion, fuzz, or even synth. It's just my pedal selection that decides that. The guitar itself is immaculate and setup/finished perfectly. It would be real hard to ask for more from a stock Strat. I wanted the blue, but it was back ordered, so I got the… read more Mercury. It's pleasing to the eye, not disappointed. It was all there was available at the time, now you can't even get that! Any guitar that sells out is probably a good bet. I feel this is my main go to electric and will keep this one the rest of my life. For the record I play Fenders & Gretschs. Each has it's place, this is the best 'all around' electric in my arsenal.
Great Strat
I upgraded my strat to this guitar from an original American professional and the pickups are really in your face super clean and balanced. The push push tone control adds the neck pickup to positions 1 & 2 and gives a tele like sound. I like the rolled fingerboard edges as well. I've played this through a wide range of stomp boxes and you can get all the classic strat sounds.… read more Stays in tune really well. I've been playing for 8 hours on and off since I got this hone today and once I stretched the strings out I've barely had to tweak the tuning. This is an all around workhorse strat. Highly recommended.
Great guitar, subpar pickups
Got nothing negative to say about SW service itself, stellar as usual. Bought what I thought was going to be my dream electric and it it blown away by my $700 schecter and my Gibson left handed Les Paul. I'm sure alot of guys like the mild, blusey tones this produces bu I am more a shredder influenced by the likes of Hendrix, Trower, Iomi, VH and Buckethead, and this near completely… read more fails as a shredding axe. I can plug my schecter in and just blaze away, plug in the Strat with exact same settings and I feel like I am just learning how to play, really really disappointed and I wish I would have done some research, I just assumed a USA made $1,500 guitar was going to be a pinnacle for all playing styles. So now my options are to spend $100's more for hot pickups and/or boxes, this thing to me is nearly unplayable as it is and would not recommend if your goal is to rock out. IMO, Fender really dropped the ball on this one, with 3 friggin pickups you'd figure at least 1 would be hot.
