Brought my tone to life!
I stepped up from an ALTO-TS210 plastic enclosed monitor...wow, was it ever a huge step up!!!! This unit immediately brought my amp tones to life in a way that's usually described as the "amp in the room" tone. It definitely gives you the full cab experience and you can tell the difference in the quality of construction within your tone. The 10" version is absolutely perfect… read more for bedroom jamming or even small gigging. I chose this over the 12" version due to the weight reduction and size. There is no compromise of tone going with the 10" version. It sounds absolutely perfect. I'm using this with a Line 6 Helix and it's a perfect combination. Thanks to my sales engineer, Dennis Konicki for the excellent service and speedy delivery.
Pretty much perfect
This is my first purchase of a FRFR cab for my Line6 Helix so I can't compare it to others. I've been in AV professionally for over 30 years, 12 of which as a full-time audio engineer with lots of time spent mixing guitar players with good & bad tone, so I have something of an idea of what each is. Before I purchased this product, I tuned my presets via a really expensive pair… read more of Tannoy floorstanding monitors that are as accurate as any I've heard. Plugging this thing in for the first time, you could tell it would take some breaking in. It had a lot 630Hz-1Khz "beamy-ness" that parted your hair when turned up. All of that calmed down after several hours and it sounds pretty darn close to what I was hearing through the Tannoys, Produces enough low end for me, likely not enough to someone who's coming from a 4x12. Just not enough LF cone area to move similar air. I would liken the output overall somewhere between traditional 1x12 and 2x12 cabs- more air moved than a 1x12, not as much as a 2x12 cab. Plenty loud for the size. Two of these would likely satisfy the metal 7-string player. FYI, Dave Friedman says the '10' model is voiced higher than the '12' and he thinks it's better this way. Generally brighter, better high mids, more suited to traditional guitar tones. I'll bet the '12' model will appeal more to the metal 4x12 player. Pretty similar SPL output between the two models, as you'll note in the specs... But, tonally, its pretty darn cool. It somehow remains faithful to what you programmed while seeming like you're playing through an actual amp, something I didn't get through the Tannoys even though they were bigger & louder. Build quality is really nice (grill is a nice touch!), it doesn't weigh all that much, the handle is placed well and it feels appropriately expensive, leather and all.
