Breedlove Guitar (change the strings)
I was looking for a guitar to have to "mess around with" of a reasonable price that was a good sounding guitar and attractive. I came across the Breedlove ECO Discovery S Concerto CE and after seeing and hearing it played on a video demonstration, thought this was probably what I was looking for. Even though you never really know what effects are being used to produce the sound… read more you are hearing played I decided this was worth a try and I was only going to buy it through Sweetwater since almost all my guitar purchases have been with them and the service you get and guarantee and return policy is unbeatable! I figured if the actual sound wasn't what I was wanting I would return it and try another. (There just isn't a Sweetwater around every corner, unfortunately.) When the guitar arrived I played it and was very disappointed with the sound coming from the guitar when played acoustically but was "decent" plugged in. I like playing the acoustic side of any guitar better, but at times when needed I amp it up. I was going to return it but then remembered that it came with D'Addario strings. I have never found a D'Addario string I liked so I changed the strings to my favorite brand "Stringjoy" and after replaying the acoustic side of the guitar I decided to keep it. Sorry D'Addario I just don't like your strings. Bottom line- This is a good sounding guitar, you just have to match it with better accessories. It's a keeper!
