A really nice guitar
I have grew up on deep body dread naughts without cut aways( Martin type guitars)and to be honest, I am not overwhelmed by the looks of this guitar. Having said that, I have played a lot of acoustic guitars lately, both affordable and expensive, and the Breedlove design is alarmingly consistent over and over! They always play easy, sound good and that mild cutaway makes them a… read more very comfortable couch guitar. They are well thought out by someone who knows acoustic guitars. They are deep bodied and nice volume. I chose this model due to the unique black look( doesn't everyone make a spruce top guitar?) and take the rich mahogany sound for granted. If you are looking for an acoustic guitar, you have to try out a Breedlove!
High End Affordability
I'll be honest, I feel that I took a chance on this instrument, even at it's insanely low price tag. I've always been one to purchase only after playing the guitar myself, but something about this one just spoke to me, and the reputation of the company is outstanding so I gave it a shot. The verdict: it stacks up incredibly well against some of the much higher end instruments in… read more my collection. (I have a Taylor 214, Martin D28, 1979 Les Paul, etc etc... All much more expensive than this Breedlove). The Rainforest has a smooth, vibrant tone that's clean and crisp on the mids and graceful on the highs (I use Ernie Ball Earthwood light gauge strings). The finish is simply GORGEOUS, and the satin neck is perfect for sliding smoothly across the scales. It sounds like a dream through the system at my church, too. I could swear it's cleaner even than my Martin, though that could be due to my simple infatuation with the guitar at present. Conclusion: I'm incredibly happy with the purchase, with Andy Scheer at Sweetwater (he was outstanding in his assistance after there was an issue with payment processing), and with the instrument itself. The Breedlove line is something special, indeed.
Perfect fit for me
Everything about this guitar screams quality in ways that would make you expect a higher price tag. The big thing that really sells it for me though is the neck. Described as a "Thin C", it's got a satin finish on the neck and it's easily the most comfortable acoustic guitar neck I've played in almost 20 years. It honestly reminds me of the thin C neck on my Schecter electric, even… read more with the same satin finish. The feel, sound, build quality, and aesthetics are insanely nice.
