Decent gig bag

Steven

I consider myself a gigging hobbyist. I wanted a gig bag to transport guitars to gigs, and also for storage at my house. I didn't need anything extremely heavy-duty, and this fits my needs perfectly. It has enough padding to protect my guitars from scuffs and dings. I wouldn't rely on this if I was traveling on the road, but for what I need, it's perfect. Protective foam is thicker read more than other bags at the same price point.

Perfect Fit For Ibanez GSRM20

Bonez

I'd previously ordered an Ibanez-branded, purpose-built gig bag for my GSRM20 bass, but after a couple of weeks of waiting just for it to be in stock, I ended up canceling the order. In fact, last I checked, that bag still isn't available. Well, I saw this Gator electric guitar gig bag under the popular accessories on the GSRM25 (5-string version of what I have) and decided to take read more a breath, squeeze the trigger, and hope for the best. My GSRM20 has a bulky, padded strap which I left on when testing for fit, and it fit a little snugly. Without the strap, it's a spot-on perfect fit. The padding is just thick enough to offer good protection, but not so bulky as to be cumbersome or awkward. As with any gig bag, expecting it to give hard-case-level protection is only going to end in tears, but it's about like putting your instrument back in its shipping box: don't step on, sling, or throw it, and you're good for any minor slips and falls.

Great Gig Bag...It's NOT a Case

This is my 8th Gator Economy gig bag (4 electric & 4 acoustic guitar). I purchased this one for an Ibanez Mikro Bass because the matching Ibanez GB is back ordered, the Mikro Bass fits perfectly, and my past experience with them. First, it is a gig bag and not a hard case. Second, it is quite inexpensive. I have a price point for instruments that get a hard case and find these read more gig bags are great for those below that threshold. The exterior material is durable, the padding plenty adequate for storage and me transporting instruments in my car, and the zippers on mine seem quite robust. I feel it will protect from inadvertent dings and bumps, but obviously not from large drops or other trauma. I have had some of these for several years and have had no problems, even with adolescents occasionally removing and returning instruments in them. The shoulder straps are handy and on my previous 7 are removable via clips. I read previous reviews and found some problematic. Faulty workmanship, broken zippers, or doesn't fit a particular instrument are very useful things to know. Some of the complaints, generally that this doesn't have the protection of a hard case, seem misguided. If you feel you need the protection of a hard case then get one, but the cheapest I found here were more than twice the cost of this Gator gig bag. This is my 40th year of playing guitar and am fairly discerning when reading reviews. I hope that novice players will not miss out on a useful, economical, and quality protective option for their guitar. Many of us started out playing guitar relatively young and with limited means - something like this is great.
