Powerful, Beautiful, Resonant Guitar
Hi Folks, It just doesn't get much better than this. How or why Gibson allowed this, still puzzles me to this day. I've played/owned a Gibson J-45 Regal, Gibson J-45, Gibson J200 Parlor and many other guitars. This IBG Hummingbird (that's what it is, not of the Masterbuilt, but of the Inspired by Gibson line) is one that I'll never, ever sell. I'll eat this guitar, literally, instead… read more of selling it to eat. I think that's my full testimony of it. The clarity and bottom end will just knock your socks off. They could have listed this in the $3,000 range and I'd have coughed it up. I can't believe Gibson has allowed this.
Epiphone Hummingbird IBG
I bout I bought a Gibson Hummingbird in the 70's at a damp leaky store. The neck was warped but I wanted it badly so I bought it anyway, hoping it would improve in a better environment. I had it adjusted a few times but it was never right. I played it anyway because it sounded great. Now I have it tuned to an open C and it still sounds great - but still hurts my fingers. I've always… read more wanted to get another Hummingbird that sounded the same and was playable. Gibson prices have risen out of my reach ever since then and the announcement of the Epiphone Hummingbird Inspired by Gibson gave me renewed hope. I watched at least 10 very positive reviews of it and decided this was my chance to have a new Hummingbird. It came from Sweetwater quickly and in perfect condition. The construction and the finish are flawless. It sounds good and will probably improve over time. The action is a little higher than I would like and the strings are heavier than I usually use but those are easy changes to make.
Very happy worth the wait
I ordered my epiphone IGB hummingbird back in November and got it in April but I have to say it was really worth the wait and the price. Sounded great out of the box. What can I say I love this guitar! I also want to thank the guys at sweet water they were great even when I would call to check to see if the guitar had arrived yet. This one will be hard to keep in stock. Thanks again… read more Jeff
THE BEAUTY QUEEN OF ALL GUITARS
I was reading a 2-page article in the current issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine comparing the Epiphone Hummingbird(inspired by Gibson) to the Gibson Hummingbird. The magazine said their survey of pricing for the Gibson Hummingbird was from $3000 to $9000.In the magazine, they said, "What's different about the Epiphone Hummingbird? NOT A LOT"!I have previously ordered 3 Epiphones… read more from Sweetwater and like the quality and excellent service from Sweetwater! I placed an order for the Epiphone Hummingbird and Ben Elder expedited the order and I had it in one day! Thanks, Ben! It was in tune out of the box with a perfect set-up! The 1st thing I did was put my favorite strings on the guitar: Elixir Acoustic coated Medium 13-56 Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze string for volume, tone & playability and use a 127 mm pick. This is the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen and has the great dreadnaught bass sound with great midrange, treble & sustain! It also has the "fancy" Gibson tuners and the fancy pickguard! The real "magic" happens when you plug this guitar into an acoustic guitar amplifier! WOW! Crystal clear! SO EASY TO PLAY! This makes the 5th guitar I have purchased from Sweetwater & I say thank you Sweetwater for making me a very HAPPY CAMPER! (Also enjoyed the bag of candy in the box). THANK YOU, SWEETWATER! YOU ARE THE BEST!
Excellent
Excellent..very happy. Was setup ready to go, even had a battery installed. Nice job Sweetwater!
I am beside myself at how great this guitar is. I feel like I bought a Gibson.
First, kudos to Sweetwater's sales staff. You'll never be treated better by a company. I bought a Gibson acoustic from another unnamed huge musical site who claimed to be my 'Friend', but was treated pretty marginally by them. I learned my lesson and now order from here. Let me tell you why: this guitar is currently pretty hard to find. They let me know when they were back in stock,… read more but only had 2 of them. They took tons of pics of both of them, put them up live, and i was able to choose the serial number of the one i wanted when ordering. Name me another site that puts that much love into listing guitars. Anyway, back to the guitar...guys/gals...it's flawless. the finish is actually even darker than in the pics, and that's a great thing. It really looks like a vintage humminbird. whoever did the 55 point inspection nailed it. This thing was almost in tune when i opened the box. perfect action, intonation was spot on (where as with my gibson i had to do some work on it after getting it 'new')...it even SMELLS like wood (cuz it is). I have never been more floored with an epiphone. I feel like this is the gibson i actually wanted in the first place. I can't put it down. i'm at work and i'm thinking of new songs i can play on this thing. Just buy it, if you can. you won't regret it.
Beautiful Guitar
Just got this, came the next day. My salesman Gage was awesome to work with. I have looked it over completely and I cannot find any problems w the finish, the aged finish look is beautiful. This guitar is way above my ability, my guitar instructor is a professional musician and is really impressed as well.Sweetwater also gave me 4 different ones to pick from online in a photo gallery,… read more multiple angles and pics of each one, rather than just pick one off the pile and ship it. Thanks Gage

I always wanted a Gibson Hummingbird but could never afford it. I wanted one as a memory for a very good friend of mine. When Epiphone upgraded some of their acoustic guitars(the Hummingbird was one of them) I had to make the purchase. I live in the Chicago area and I have many music stores to purchase from, but not one of them could match the service and professionalism of Sweetwater.… read more The guitar arrived very well packed. Everything was to manufacturer specs as I expected. I do like a lower string action so I will visit my luthier after I play the guitar for a couple of months. One last thing, my sales rep for this are is one of the best I have dealt with. All I need to do now is someday visit Sweetwater in Indiana.
