Beautiful ukulele!
This epi uke is awsome to look at. Thin body but still puts out a great sound. Replaced the G string with a low g for a warmer sound. Currently it needs constant turning, but hopefully with constant paying the c, e, a strins will settle in. No second thoughts at all about this uke.
Addendum to 5/29/19 Review
In my initial review to was appropriately critical of "gig bag" this uke comes with....Love the instrument....gig bag is trash, in my opinion. Epiphone should do better. After quite a bit of research, I have found that GATOR TENOR UKELELE case with white interior is a good fit.....If the instrument were 1/4 longer, it might not make it...as it is now, nice and snug..about $80… read more but once you have and love the uke, they sort of have you by the snarklies....It does seem to be good quality...offers real protection. Generous pockets in front..... BTW....not a representative of GATOR....just trying to save fellow strummers a hassle.
Great little instrument.
This is my first ukulele. I think it is a good piece of gear to start with. I was going to get one for 1/2 the price but saw this and had to have it. Some will say 'why get a ukulele that looks like a guitar?" I get that but at the end of the day, I'm paying for it so I went with this. I also felt good going with Epiphone. They are usually very reliable, cost effective instruments.… read more I have been playing guitar for a long time so while I did not know any uke chords, it is not difficult to transition. I think it is a playable, good sounding instrument. (Mine came with white nylon strings....I've read that the black strings do not sound good and will need immediate replacing.) Overall, I am more than satisfied with the instrument. It is really a lot of fun. I did not give it a 5 star rating because the "gig bag" is your worst nightmare about what "gig bag" means. I did not expect anything great but it really doesn't provide any protection or chance to humidify. Epiphone customer service responded quickly but could only redirect me to another company as Epi doesn't offer a better case. Dimensions are a little outside what I've found online. Upgrading to a better case may prove impossible or so costly as to probably not be worth it....
My Own Hummingbird
I had watched a video review on YouTube featuring the Epiphone Hummingbird Ukulele and after a search through family photos I found my Dad's Hummingbird Guitar which he had had for years before he passed away. I knew I had to have this ukulele which looks just like the dreadnaught guitar. Then when I found it featured on Sweetwater Music I knew exactly where to go for my own hummingbird.… read more My brother has Dad's hummingbird guitar and he will be surprised when he sees mine. I couldn't have asked for a better business than Sweetwater Music to purchase this instrument from. It is beautifully detailed and has a great sound and Sweetwater will work with you about any question you may have. They are fast shippers and help you track your instrument. I recommend Sweetwater Music and their staff to anyone wanting to purchase a musical instrument.
Baby Bird
Not long ago I purchased a Epiphone Hummingbird guitar which has the best sound I've heard even from instruments of greater expense. So, when I saw this Epiphone Hummingbird Tenor Uke, I had to have it. Just like it's big brother the guitar, it is a wonderful piece of art and sounds great. I call them "Big Bird and Baby Bird". I plan to pass them on to my grandson and great grandsons.… read more Well worth the money and excellent quality.
