A Joyful Noise

Jeff Goldenberg

This is my first tenor ukulele. I purchased it with Bonus Bucks from an Acoustasonic Stratocaster purchase. What a twofer! Both are a kick in the pants to play and make joyful noises. I'm all smiles when I pull the uke out of its gig bag. A longtime fan of George Harrison's ukulele playing, it's an honor to play Dhani's tribute instrument. It is a gorgeous though understated brushed read more turquoise that lets the ovankol figuring bleed through. The laser cut mandela design on the rear is peaceful and inspirational. And the roughly outlined phases of the moon fretboard markers shimmer. This instrument is pleasing to the ear and so much easier to fret than my mahogany Vinyard (a name once used by Ohana) soprano. The sound is bright and crisp, it just makes me want to sing along with it. The built-in tuner is perfect (matches my TC Electronics PolyTune clip on) and easy to use. I don't often play it plugged in, but love the result when I do. Highly recommended for any player at any level. It really can run from rank beginner to seasoned pro.

This is my go to ukulele

This is a purchase with no regrets. Plays great and is a sight to behold. Have not plugged it in yet, but will shortly. I love having the tuner on board. Getting the gig bag with it is pretty handy too.

Great little uke

I pre-ordered this while looking for a uke with a pick-up. I liked the look of it, and love my Fender basses, so I thought it was worth a shot. My uke arrived even before the Fender site said they are available, so kudos, Sweetwater on fulfilling your orders. Unplugged, this has a nice bright tone. The built-in tuner is a great feature, but the strings seem already stretched in, read more so it has stayed in tune remarkably well. The frets are well dressed and the action is just where I like it for strumming and picking. I've tried it, also, with a variety of amps and this is a uke I could play out. The tone is just fantastic. If I had one nit to pick, it would be that I prefer D'addario low G strings, and the G won't fit unless I modify the saddle (since the diameter is too large). I guess this is my incentive to try other low G sets. For now I'll just use the stock strings, however, since I'm loving the sound.

Beautifully Made

This is a very nicely made and appointed instrument. The overall fit and finish are flawless and the details … fretmarkers, back design, "Dhani" signature … are very attractive. Full disclosure … I have almost 30 guitars but this is my first ukulele so it's hard for me to comment on the sound quality except to say it sounds very clean, pretty tone and proper intonation, both read more acoustic and plugged in (yes, it has an acoustic pickup).
