Fender Newporter Player Review

So nice

I had a terrible time deciding what color to get. I ended up getting the champagne because I thought it looked more like an electric. Just for fun. I had the nut upgraded to tusq and the action lowered. I have arthritis and small hands and need all the help I can get! I am pleased with how easy this is to play. I'm used to a Taylor gsmini and love the size, I actually thought this Fender was a smaller guitar, it's not, it's just a little narrower, so it's stretch for me being petite. But all in all, it's very nice! And as always Sweetwater service was great. My guy is Keith, and he's always so patient and helpful! Thank you!

I didn't want to like it

I needed a new acoustic when the bridge broke on my old (generic) guitar just days before a gig. I found myself having to buy one locally and went in to try dozens of other models. Fender wasn't speaking to me. I saw a bunch of them on the walls but just wasn't feeling them based on looks. After trying Yamaha's, Martin, Taylor, Ibanez, you name em'. My fiance insisted I try… read more this Fender she liked the looks of. Fine, let me try it. Holy crap! Once in my hands, the feel of the satin thin neck, the super low action without any buzz. This guitar claimed me as it's new home. I knew from the first chord, I found MY guitar. I tried a few other Fenders but the Newporter kept calling me back.

A sweet sounding, easy playing, great looking guitar!

I bought a Fender Newporter Player acoustic guitar In natural finish for my daughter. She has watched me play guitar her whole life and, as a college student majoring in music, she decided to learn guitar this summer. When her new guitar arrived, both she and I were impressed with how sweet it sounds. Being an accomplished pianist and vocalist, well-trained in music notation and… read more theory, it's incredible how quickly she has advanced in her guitar playing. In roughly a month, my daughter has progressed from being a non-player to a competent intermediate guitarist (she finished her first guitar method book in two weeks and is mostly done with book 2). I attribute most of this rapid progress to her talent and strong musicianship (developed over the past 10 years on piano). But, much credit goes to the Fender Newporter and it's inspiring sound, comfortable size and friendly playability. Now that my daughter has gone back to the university where she studies, I'm very tempted to get one of these Newporters for myself. Thank you to Sweetwater and Brian Dillon. He's a fantastic musical partner and has helped me and members of my family for a long time. Best Sweetwater Rep ever!

My new Fender Reporter

Great purchase of an electric acoustic that sounds as good as it looks. I am truly a novice just learning my way around and this purchase gave me the much needed boost to keeping working at it.

My favorite acoustic to play

I have the older blue version of this guitar. It looks great but it's a bit flashy for my taste. That being said, it's still my favorite acoustic guitar to play. The neck is phenomenal. The combination of low action and a wider nut width make it extremely easy on the fingers. It sounds good, both plugged in and not. At this point, I'm totally satisfied and if I buy another… read more guitar it would be a more "normal" looking newporter.

Fender Newporter Player Guitar

I'm very pleased with the overall sound of this guitar. It's very easy to play up and down the neck strumming, picking or finger style playing. The finish is very smooth and feels very good. The color is fantastic as well. The sound quality is better than the Fender FA-135CA, although that's all I can compare it to. I would recommend this guitar to friends.
