Great Guitar
The setup team did a wonderful job making sure the guitar was pliable out of the box the action on it is great. The feel of the guitar is great. It may not be a Les Paul Custom but it's the closest thing you can get. Alex did a wonderful job also.
Great product, great service
I have not played guitar in about 30 years and wanted to get back into playing. I was not sure what wanted but knew the Gretsch name and reputation - and after reading the reviews on this model, decided to purchase one and sure am glad I did. It plays so easy I'm sure I'll have no problems getting back up to my previous playing level. The customer service was amazing and the… read more guitar arrived as advertised - clean, tuned and ready to play. This will not be my last purchase from Sweetwater. Keep up the good work.
Excellent guitar for beginners too
After watching a You Tube video by Brooks Reid explaining the differences between the necks of the Gretsch Electromatic guitars I decided to give this one a try. This is my best purchase so far, being a beginner I needed something that offered more space between strings and this guitar gives me exactly that. I also own a CV 50s Telecaster and a CV 60s Stratocaster and this Gretsch… read more is becoming my favorite. I liked the sound and playability so much that I got myself another Gretsch, a G2622 Streamliner, which is a little bigger but the neck feels the same and the sound is a little different but still sounds nice. Maybe as I improve the CVs will be easier to play but for now the Grestch is the way to go for me.
Oh, Yeah!
I was looking for something that fell between the full to muddy sound of a Gibson and the jangle of a telecaster. It was a tossup between this and a boutique style tele with swiss army knife combinations of single and humbucker tones. I have always loved the classy look of Gretsch guitars, and pulled the trigger on this Jet BT. It beautifully hits that in-between sound! On the… read more bridge bucker alone, you get a very 'tele' feel, but more mojo. With both pickups on, you get a really rich, articulate (hello, Gretsch!) sound with enough midrange for some thickness. You can change the flavor of the output substantially with different picking attack, since there is treble there, but also good beef in the pickups. The neck pickup also has better than expected articulation. Sounds great clean, and with low to middle ground gain. Paired with a Fender Twin or Vox sound you get everything from richness to Beatles style kerrang! I am interested in classic rock and blues tones, so I don't get into high gain very much. However, this gives my Les Paul Studio a very serious run for the money, at less than half the price. BTW, Sweetwater set this thing up so it plays like butter. It looks super nice. And, Sweetwater delivered as promised to a secure pickup location, on the second business day! Great job by Dave Snow's team, as usual!
Love it
First gretsch I have owned and I am impressed. Plays smooth, price is awesome, and it seems to help me achieve the sound I have been chasing for a while now. I have been playing worship music with a Strat. This Guitar simplifies my playing by being able to achieve the tones I need with pick attack more so than adjusting all of the knobs and switches on my strat. It"s all personal… read more preference but, Im a fan now and thanks to Kevin Spunde for taking care if me.
