A great replacement / backup or main tuner
my two main tuners are a Korg Pitchblack pedal on my pedal board, which operates much in the same way as this one (the display is a little less fancy and more functional), and a very old Korg GA-12. I also had two very old 9v powered GA tuners with the monochrome LCD displays that have since been given away to others in need of tuners. Korg tuners have always been reliable for… read more me. My GA-12 is showing its age though, and I'm not sure how many more outings it will survive, so this is technically a replacement for it. The GA-12 itself is very similar to the current orchestra model, with the ability to select several different instruments-specific modes (guitar in std and tunings, bass, ukulele) and manual modes. it also has a pitch generator for tuning by ear. This tuner is more compact, has a bigger and clearer display, easier to use, and is technically more accurate. It lacks instrument-specific modes but doesn't really need them. It also lacks a pitch generator but i bought a chromatic pitch pipe for that, which i like better because it isn't dependent on battery power. I love that Korg chose to power it with readily available AAA batteries, which lets me use rechargeables. For the price, i can't think of a better tuner on the market. I hate those little clip on tuners for a couple reasons, but if you want that sort of thing, Korg offers a clip on contact mic that gives you the same functionality in what is for me a more manageable and practical form factor. IMO, Korg nailed the features, functions and price points on this, and I've loved every tuner of theirs i have had. This one is no exception. I'm not impressed with polyphonic tuning, and don't see anything super exciting from others that Korg doesn't already do well. I expect many years of good use out of this thing!
Best Handheld Tuner
Easy to see, share, store, and use. Used it church band, and it became popular, because even an acoustic could use it, and storing it in a drawer is easy. Supper accurate came in handy with picky, golden earned band leaders. Use it to practice at home with multiple instruments.
A great affordable Tuner
I use it in conjunction with a Tuner App and it works perfecting when I'm stringing/tuning. I'll use the App to narrow in the tone, and the Korg to pin-point it. For me it was a must have.
Visible From Mars!
One of the best handhelds available, period. Easy to see in the dark, easy to see from an angle, VERY accurate, and is small enough to go anywhere. I dig it cuz it is flat and is easy to set on top of amp, rack case, etc, and it is never hard to get adjusted for just the right viewing zone. I have a rack tuner, also a floor pedal tuner, but this sits on my amp and is easiest to… read more get to so I rarely use the other tuners anymore. That says volumes regarding the tuning sensitivity of this handheld...it's dead-on perfect and the best thing is the price. If you own one, you feel just like I and the other reviewers feel....The Best Inexpensive Handheld Tuner EVER! Plus, it has input/output jacks, so it can stay inline for easy use during live gigs and you will never complain about not being able to see it. Buy two, just in case Korg stops making them!
Very good deal for the money
This is a very nice and easy to use tuner. You can see it very well. I like the external mic. You can just leave it on your amp without fooling around with cables. Nice intonation work can me done with it too. For the price of a decent headstock tuner, you can get this one which blows away a headstock tuner. Very nice accessory to have.
