Good for guitar, bad for bass
For guitar, this is a great FRFR cab. Not enough power to handle bass though (but I think this is the case for pretty much all FRFR cabs sadly). PROs Great clean sound Can get loud enough for medium sized venues for guitar CONs Fan can be noisy Requires a good power conditioner or you"ll get some nasty noise The loud "pop" when you turn it on Not enough power to drive a bass..… read more found this out at a gig. Better Than Expected
I've been using this over a year now with my Kemper. Not only does it give an accurate representation of the profiles but it feels like a real amp. It sounds better than my real tube amps. It's full and deep and the way the tweeter is mounted in the center of the speaker you can mic it if you need to. Gemini > friedman
This frfr sounds fantastic. Feels like your playing through a real amp paired with helix. I previously tried a Friedman asc and it does not compare to the sounds you get from this. You will not be disappointed in this
Fantastic FRFR
I've been using the Mission Engineering Gemini 1 for the past year. I have had the greatest experience with this FRFR cabinet and it is the perfect companion to my Line 6 Helix. This thing gets more than loud enough for full band arrangements and has an amazingly flat response across all frequencies. This is even great for bass or keyboard players. I cannot recommend this enough.… read more Well worth it.
Beware using with PC
I bought this to use for live performance with S-Gear and a PC laptop.Although I can get it to work with my iMac, I cannot get it to work with a PC and I've tried two different laptops (one with Windows 7 the other with 8.1) Mission Engineering support has tried to help and said they were able to get it working by ensuring the S-Gear had exclusive use of the MI supplied driver.… read more But following their instructions still did not resolve the issue and as of now I cannot use this cabinet for live performance as intended. For use with a Mac I would give it 4 stars, but it appears that they have not got the bugs out on the PC side.
