Great short scale Maple body dreadnought

Jim Hintz

Just received the Hummingbird quilt so the honeymoon may effect my feelings, but I am loving this guitar right out of the box. The maple gives it a little crisper brighter tone than the usual mahogany body. It is not too bright or trebly but just a little more sustain and slightly more overtone than the mahogany bodies provide. I have a Hummingbird "original" with the mahogany read more spruce combination and this maple/spruce is a great compliment to it. Baggs VTC makes it really come alive plugged in and the quilted maple is a lot more visible in person than in photos. The neck may look black, but it is actually the deep blue as well. Finding a maple body dread with the short scale is not easy so when I saw this I jumped on it right away and it is everything I wanted. Have been playing Gibsons for a long time so the rounded C neck, rosewood board with 12" radius is just what I was looking for. I couldn't be happier with this guitar.
