Gibson’s creative use of tone woods results in a distinctively original sounding acoustic-electric guitar!
2 years ago I thought I would try something new in acoustic guitars being offered by Gibson. I wanted a smaller, parlor sized acoustic guitar and Gibson had a fairly new model they had created. The Gibson L-00 Studio model was parlor sized and constructed with a Sitka Spruce top, Walnut back and sides, and a Walnut fingerboard and bridge. It also came with an L.R. Baggs VTC pickup.… read more I prefer Gibson's Slim Taper neck carve and the L-00 Studio came with their Advanced Response neck carve. This wasn't much of an issue as the L-00 Studio was still easy to play. Upon first strum I was delighted with the tone that came out of my new guitar with the Walnut back and sides! To my ears the sound wasn't as dark as Rosewood, and was similar to Mahogany but a bit brighter sounding. The L-00 has a distinctive sounding voice all its own thanks to the use of Walnut! The Walnut fretboard feels quite different than a Rosewood or Ebony fretboard and plays closer to a mahogany fretboard. It's a comfortable feel and is easy to play. When plugged into an amp the guitar sounds great and it's nice to have that option for variety. Besides the fabulous feel and sound of the L-00 Studio the smaller body size is lots of fun to play! I often play in a sitting position and this guitar sits very comfortably in your lap. I keep it near a recliner chair in my living room so it's nearby whenever I get musical ideas I want to explore. Since my guitar is 2 years old the Nitrocellulose finish on the Sitka Spruce top has aged beautifully into a light honey color and looks stunning next to the Walnut! If you're looking for a smaller, parlor sized acoustic-electric guitar, and you're willing to try a different combination of tone woods, I whole-heartedly recommend the Gibson L-00 Studio Acoustic-Electric guitar in Sitka Spruce and Walnut! It's a comfortable, great playing, outstanding sounding, beautiful guitar that is a superb guitar for its price! Sweetwater had the guitar set up perfectly when they shipped it to me, one of many reasons to buy your guitars from Sweetwater (with thanks to Tom Maxwell, my Sound Guru!).
Gibson Blues Vibe
If you love small body guitars, this is the model for you. Excels at the muted bass blues lines but versatile enough fo any application. It also has that Gibson style of sound. Walnut finish is beautiful. This guitar is in my hands daily.
Great guitar for young musician
Picked this up along with an Amp package for my daughter for Christmas 2020. WOW is all that I can say. Sweetwater really makes it all worthwhile. The 55 point inspection along with add on tuning setup for my high schooler really makes this setup sound amazing. Hats off to the personal attention from Jamie Hoye (Sweetwater sales engineer supreme)hooking me up with all kinds… read more of add-on to make it a complete sound system. The sound is fantastic and this will be part of our family for a long time to come. Thanks much Sweetwater!!
Fingerstyle Dream
If you love the timbre of a Gibson and enjoy smaller guitars, this one is a winner. The guitar arrived without a flaw and the setup is perfect. I have owned parlors, OMs, and 000s. This is the one for me. Thanks to Forest for the great service.
Absolute Sleeper
I recently sold my Collings dreadnought after having not played it for about two years. The tone and crafstmanship were insanely good but it was not right for my baby sized hands and body. I had no complaints with the guitar at all, but I just let the tone influence my decision whereas playability should have factored in a good bit more. Fastforward and I got a Waterloo. Absolutely… read more gorgeous. I've played it every day for two years now. The body is perfect for me and it's fully of warm woody thump. Extremely resonant too. That said, I'm not a huge fan of strumming on it. Just not the right sound for a lot of strumming songs so I picked this Gibson up to give it a chance. WOW. It's got some boutique features like scalloped bracing and nitro finish but at a crazy budget price. The craftsmanship is fantastic and the feel wonderful. Best of all it's a great picker and strummer and will record quite well. It's already quite resonant and I know it will open up even more as the years go on. The folks at Bozeman are trying to give you a ton for your money and it shows with pride. Great job Gibson!
