Very sturdy
the case provides excellent protection for my guitar!
High Quality Case
As is to be expected, this case is Taylor level quality. That being said, it is a case, not a gig bag. It will keep your Taylor snug and secure. The trade off is size. In some ways it is bulkier than the hard case. I also miss having a compartment inside the case although the pad to secure the neck is a nice level of security. The case is also nice looking. To me Taylor brown… read more speaks quality. Also a shoutout to Sweetwater! Their service is top rate.
Nice Semi-Hard Shell Case from Taylor
If you want the ultimate protection of your large investment in a Taylor guitar in a portable format, consider the Taylor Aero series gig case. It is more of a case than a traditional gig bag. The upper and lower portions and sides have a hard component while offering the solid straps for easy travelling. The case is well constructed with protection in mind. I had a very good Gator… read more Gig bag which was nice but I wanted more protection for my Taylor 814ce Deluxe. I looked at many different bags/cases and finally, with the help of my Sales Engineer - Simon Whitehouse, selected the Taylor Aero case. It is a solidly built base and snugly holds your guitar. The handle is also comfortable and secure, unlike many other gig bags. The one negative is that it is much heavier than a traditional gig bag. You also feel this when you strap it on your back. It would be nice if Taylor put another pocket or two in this case as the well made zipper case is somewhat limited. There is no internal storage either for straps/picks/tuner etc. That would be a nice addition.
Like a hard case with shoulder straps
This is way sturdier (and heavier) than I expected. It's pretty much built like the hard shell case and gives my Taylor 414ce a snug fit. I wanted something with shoulder straps and a pocket big enough for my iPad to keep my hands free going to and from playing. Since protection wasn't my primary need, I probably would have been happier with a lighter gig bag, but I don't have to… read more worry about my kids knocking it over and damaging the guitar with this one. I suppose that peace of mind is worth the additional weight. Storage: not sure what the zippered mesh pocket is intended for since it's too tight to put most things in - I stuck a pack of strings in there. The other pocket has an elastic opening which is nice for keeping my picks and capo from scattering around the main pocket. I keep my IEMs and clip-on tuner, and iPad in the main pocket and since my guitar has a cutaway, I can keep my strap in the main case. Hope this helps someone considering this case.
Just What I Needed for My Taylor 517e
I recently bought a dream guitar... a Taylor Grand Pacific 517e. It came with a stunning beautiful case as well with floral design on the surface. It is very sturdy and a little on the heavy side. However, knowing me it would not be long before I clumsily knocked it up against something and would get hose mystery gouges and white streaks. I wanted something light weight and sturdy… read more for my everyday use and travel. I was planning to get a Taylor hardbag but saw a YouTube video about the Aero Case. In the video they were throwing it out a 2nd story window, jumping on it, knocking it into walls, and closing doors on it. They even hit it with a truck... all with a guitar in the case that came out unscathed. I was sold, but first I had to find out if a case designed for the Grand Auditorium would fit a Grand Pacific. After a few inquiries, my Sweetwater Rep, Andrew got back with me with the news that it was a perfect fit. I bought it and am very happy. I also love the fact that I can tuck the shoulder straps away when not needed. The pouch on the front has plenty of room for the stuff I carry... strap, capos, strings, tools, cable. I highly recommend the Taylor Aero Case!
