Guild M-120 Concert, Left-Handed Review

Couldn't be more impressed

I preordered this guitar a while back after searching for a new folk style acoustic for years, which as you know, is not the easiest thing to do when you're left handed. Perfect couch guitar

Overall great guitar. Accomplished exactly what I was looking for. An all solid wood mahogany guitar that is comfortable for playing while relaxing and doesn't break the bank. I'm 6'1" with pretty meaty palms. Was worried this might be too small, but it's absolutely fantastic. Nice slim neck makes barring chords easy, while the spacing of the strings keeps fingerpicking the preferred… read more option. One could argue the sound isn't as rich as other larger guitars, but it's all mahogany, so even a little thinner than average sound is still very mellow. This guitar embraces my inner Dylan.

Great little guitar

I bought this guitar to replace my taylor gs mini as my couch guitar. The taylor is nice for strumming open chords but this Guild sounds much better overall- especially fingerpicking and blues style jams. Also, very impressed with the build quality- solid wood all around and the setup out of the box is perfect even for those high notes up the fingerboard. Easy Playing, Sounds Great

I'm a fan of the (original) Westerly Guilds so this was an obvious choice when I wanted a smaller guitar than my 1987 Guild D-40 and my Martin Concert. (I might have gone for the M-20 had it been available in lefty.) The body size of the Guild M-120 is perfect for me, and I love the Guild neck. That said, however, there is a slight trade-off in sound for the smaller size. I've… read more found I prefer finger-picking this guitar over strumming with a plectrum, which can sound a little tinny in the upper register. The construction seems solid and the body has lovely grain and finish. The pickguard seems a bit cheap and second-thought-ish, though. I will rave about the free gig bag -- top quality for a gig bag!
