Guild OM-140CE Orchestra Review

Love it

I just got my new Guild OM-140-CE. It came in a sturdy package and Sweetwater did a great job. The guitar looks great. I started playing and I like the sound and the way it plays. Even the gig bag is well made, sturdy and well padded. So far I am very happy with my purchase

BEAUTIFUL

This is everything I hoped it would be. Beautiful, light, great set-up, sweet tone, perfect size, nice rolled edges on the fretboard... It's hard to believe at the price.

Not quite what I expected

I have had several Guild guitars how ever they were all high end Guilds and were very fine and playable guitars. This particular model is NOT one of them. I can not get the action on this neck to were it is playable and neither can two noted and respect luthiers. I have been playing for 57 years and normally do my own set-ups cause who knows how I like more than I. Not on this one.… read more Please take my word for it, spend your money on a Taylor or Martin not Guild they ain't like they use to be. Sorry but it's just the truth. This is not to be taken as an impression on Sweetwater they are excellent company to deal with. I will continue to use and recommend Sweetwater to anyone.

Fun guitar!

I recently purchased this guitar. I was looking for something that was lightweight, big full sound, and visibly beautiful.I am not disappointed! This guitar is beautiful, light, and sounds amazing both unplugged and plugged in.

Excellent value, really fine instrument.

Very simply I think if you want a Martin or a Taylor and don't want the price this guitar's for you. Really playable and pick up does a nice job. A guitar doesn't need to be fancy. Super comfortable to sit with too. I recommend buying from Sweetwater. You get great service and you know someone has inspected your purchase to make sure you're getting what you should.

Superb Guitar!!!

Amazing guitar at any price! Bright clean tone and surprising projection. Every note rings true. Exceptionally easy to play and love the fast neck. Easy to work the fretboard all the way down as well. Especially impressed with the materials and attention to detail in the finish. I own other guitars up to three times as expensive but this Guild gives them all a run for the money!

Absolutely stunning

I've played quite a few acoustics, from Martins, to Taylors, to the cheaper models like Carlo Robelli. I bought this guitar hoping for a quality instrument, but got much more than I could have hoped for. The pictures don't do it justice; this guitar (in natural) is perfection. The contrast between the Sitka spruce top, mahogany back, sides, and neck, and rosewood fretboard is… read more beautiful. It oozes high quality and top-notch craftsmanship. The only thing better than how it looks is how it sounds. Bright and clear in the upper register, with a surprising amount of depth to the deeper notes. Especially for a guitar of its size. It's neither too big nor too small, fitting in the "just right" size for myself and presumably most others. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and would recommend that anyone who's looking for a premium guitar give this bad boy a try. You won't look back.

Great Guild

I have no experience will all solid-wood guitars before this one, but I love it so far. I can't give any comparison to other brands like Taylor or Martin, but it has a perfect feel and sound to me! Mike Defraties from Sweetwater was a great help if you're looking for an all solid wood guitar at a great price this guitar should be perfect for you as well.

LOVELY Playability; PUNCHY sound; GREAT Value

I love this guitar. Yes, it is a five-star review, based on its value for the dollar. I invested a lot of time to try a lot of things before committing to on OM-140CE (Antique burst finish). As a lot of you know, there's magic when you find something that feels *just right. True, "feel" is how it fits and sits with your body. It's also the feel that the sound gives. For me, the… read more neck shape and the body profile make this VERY playable, with a comfortable and predictable action. The sound has punch. It's well-balanced (not too bassy, not too trebly), both acoustically and when paired with an amplifier. The simple tone and volume controls give you *just enough*, not distracting from the resonance of the instrument itself. Fit and finish are lovely, and exactly what you would expect from a Guild at this price. As an overall package, this guitar provides immense value. Like any instrument, it calls to certain players, and it is quiet to others. This shouted to me. I haven't been able to put it down. And as an extra special bonus (wait, there's more!), the gig bag is fabulous. Not a hardshell, but not the squishy gig bag we have all used before, its a form-fitting, lightweight, and practical case!
