Heritage Eagle Classic original sunburst

17" solid wood hollow body arch-top with SD Seth Lover pickups, compensated (for wound G) ebony wood bridge, 25.5" scale length 5 piece maple neck with ebony fretboard. Built in the same factory as the Gibson L5 (historically). Came with 0.011" - 0.052" GHS Boomers installed. Perfectly intonated. I adjusted the setup to where I liked it, lowering the action and setting the pickups read more for balance and a fat jazz sound. Although cosmetically understated, it is everything a world class pro jazz guitar should be. The sustain and balance are good end to end. Finger style tailpiece is nice, plus Heritage has stopped the end pin/jack practice (yay), rim mounted input jack on this model. I really do NOT like the Grover tuning machines with faux Art Deco keys. A LOT of gear lash! They hold fine (just like any other gear set), but Grover is coasting on its past reputation. Points off for that, even though the actual guitar's construction and execution is top drawer all the way. Had no trouble adjusting things to my preferences for sound and playability. The Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers are not potted (fine with me). The body will feedback sympathetically long before the pickups. Fairly predictable, though I've experienced worse sensitivity in other guitars of this style. Clear and articulate sound wise. An L5 might sound a tiny bit "smokier," though that's subjective. Flat wound strings might get it closer to the iconic L5 sound. I'm staying with the wood bridge though. All in all a great guitar and excellent value. Adam Cesarz (ext 1700) at Sweetwater is always a pleasure to work with.
