LOVE at first sight
I was looking for a second guitar to complement my solidy body PRS. I think this one is trying to displace it's "daily driver" status. I actually didn't even realize this specific model existed before I checked it out at the local store. I was actually in the market for a Gretsch/Epi/PRS hollow. Looks - every bit as gorgeous as it looks in photos, if not moreso. Readiness -… read more definitely required a basic setup out of the box. Adjusted truss, action, intonation; replaced factory strings and it has been good to go. Playing - I have never played an ebony fretboard before. I am somewhat pleased in how I haven't noticed much of a difference from rosewood I am accustomed to. Super fast feeling neck, nice balance of speed and comfort for my hands. Fretboard feels a little flat, which is for you to decide if you like or not. Noises - Very pleased with the melodic nature of the pups. They go shiny, smooth, and delicate very easily. They handle overdrive with ease, and can create a dissonance between "button'd up" look and the "raunchy, loose" sound (think Black Keys). Hard gain is passable, but not their strength. Switching - the coil split is fun to play with, but after i found my favorite sound I haven't used it too much. Overall, I am amazed at the quality you can get in a guitar this price. Ibanez knocked it out of the park on this one.
