Sounds great both acoustic and plugged in!

I have played guitar for the past 16 years. I wanted an instrument that was familiar enough to learn but more relaxed. I picked up an entry level concert ukulele 2 years ago and was surprised at how much I enjoyed playing it. I decided to get a tenor so that the fret size was slightly larger. I also knew I wanted an acoustic/electric model to mess around with my Line 6 Pod Go. read more I received my Kala KA-EBY-TE yesterday. I don't think I put it down for a solid two hours after initially unboxing it. I had watched reviews and had a chance to try a friend's Kala so I knew what to expect to an extent. It's a great ukulele for the price. The gloss finish seems pretty aggressive but it's the only downside (and only if that bothers you). The integrated tuner is fairly accurate. The overall tone of the instrument has a lot of treble when playing acoustic which gives it a crisp sound. I plugged it into my line 6 Pod Go on a clean channel and into my KRK Rokit speakers set to a flat EQ. I bumped the bass up slightly on the ukulele's built in EQ and was impressed. I've been enjoying playing it with a small amount of reverb and delay. Even playing simple fingerstyle and chord melodies sounds great. I would certainly purchase it again having had the chance to plug in and play for a day. If you're looking for a tenor ukulele in this price point, the Kala KA-EBY-TE is a good choice.

After learning on a Kala Soprano I bought a Mitchell Concert which Jimmy Buffett signed while I was touring his show Escape To Margaritaville. It became too valuable to tour with so I bought a sweet Breedlove Concert. I was still finding the Concert size uncomfortable so decided to try a Tenor.I did my due diligence and after watching all of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain's read more Quarantine Lockdown Ukulele Collections videos it became clear that Kala was a favored brand. It arrived in great shape and Austin Zachrich was a phenomenal help as always. It needed just a little set up that I had a local luthier do and it really sings both acoustically and plugged it. I've played it through an A&H board (thank you AGAIN Austin) with both some light FX and clean and I am very pleased.

Have multiple Uke"s...only other Kala I have is the KA-KGTE-C which was over $... more than this and while they aren"t oranges, I play both via amp and accoustically and find myself always coming back to this one. Gets a lot of compliments as well.

I've only had this for a week, and have only played it a couple of times. I'm waiting for another uke I purchased as a gift for my daughter to arrive, so we can learn together. I'm a former sax player who likes to sing, so I purchased a guitar many years ago and started teaching myself. 2 years ago I got a cheap soprano uke and started messing around with it. Liked it enough to read more want a better instrument. Now I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I become stricken with ukulele acquisition syndrome!

The best uke I own!

this ukulele is amazing!!! i use it at every one of my shows. it holds a tune perfectly, the built in tuner saves so much time! i"ve had it for almost a year and i"ve only had to replace the batteries once. it sounds amazing over an amp with strumming and finger style songs. if highly recomend this uke!
