Nice little guitar, GREAT customer service

This little guitar has a decent sound and pretty good volume for being so small. It is nylon string so you have the intonation issues with that - at least I always seem to have with nylon string guitars. Also the short scale could be contributing to that as well. It's like having a little guitar with a capo on the 5th fret. It's great for playing chords/accompaniment. For picking, read more like doing fingerstyle stuff, not so much - but it is not designed for that. The frets are pretty narrow too, so that can affect how complex chords you can play. So it can't really replace a guitar or be used as a travel guitar for ALL aspects of guitar playing but for a campout sing-along it would really shine. Note: I bought this guitarlele a couple of years ago for my daughter, and she lost interest, so it sat in the case in my closet. I got it out recently for another kid, and lo and behold the nut was cracked! All the way down! I've never seen anything like it before even with roughly handled instruments. Anyway, it was out of warranty with Sweetwater, so I contacted Kala and they sent me a new nut right away. You can buy their products with no worries. That's what I call customer service.

Neat little guitar but not high quality

It has a decent little nylon string sound and the guitar itself is finished nicely and attractive. I have the spruce top model. It doesn't stay in tune very well, although every nylon string guitar I have ever had has had issues in that area. It also seems like shorter scale instruments suffer from tuning issues as well. I don't think it's specific to this instrument. It's read more kind of cool to have a little guitar tuned to the equivalent of a capo on the 4th fret I bought this guitar for my daughter and after the initial interest, it waned and the guitarlele ended up in my closet in a hardshell case for a while. The next time I got it out, the nut was cracked! I can't imagine what could have happened that could cause that kind of damage inside a case - and not cause any other damage to the surrounding area. I've played guitar for over 40 years and I've never seen a nut crack before! Especially sitting in a case! It was out of warranty by that time and Sweetwater couldn't help me. I have contacted Kala and am waiting to see what they will do. I have requested a replacement nut from them which should be a cheap easy fix for them and a show of goodwill. I will update the review after I hear back from them.
