I knew/know little about ukuleles, so I googled before making my purchase. I ended up with Kala with a subconscious loyalty based on advertising in guitar magazines of sorts. I figured going with a high end low end instrument was a safe spot. I also though that pacific walnut would be ideal for a pacific oriented instrument. All in all, I was wrong. It sounds pretty good on an read more open strum...but not as good as my child"s ADM uke. (A super cheap amazon purchase) beyond the open strum, when fretting certain notes, the thing goes quite sharp. I thought time might let things level out, but so far, not the case. The best part of this story is SWEETWATER. I use them as my music store. The customer service so far has been stellar, and they are helping me end up satisfied. I have a little bit more time to try to understand this thing, but if I end up unhappy still, they will gladly take this back and help me find what is right.
