Whoa
This guitar us amazing. Throw a ds1 in front if a twin verb and you have the tone of nirvana. Extremely comfortable. Even at the short scale. Could not be happier.
Amazing guitar!
Such an awesome guitar. Playability is on point, and the short scale was just what i needed. Theres so many good things i could say abt this, but here are the couple negatives. There's very few flaws on this guitar, and only one of them really bothers me. The first flaw is that the middle position on the toggle sounds like it's only the neck pickup. Nbd to me, because i don't use… read more middle positions often, but it'd be nice to have the option. The second is a bigger issue to me, but if mostly comes down to personal preference. The nut wasn't slotted very wide, and i can't fit a set of 12s on it. Considering my squier affinity strat could, it's a pretty big issue to me.
Freakin awesome
This guitar dominates. I absolutely love it. From the unique yet classy look, to the les Paul/ super strat tones it rocks. What I love is the looks and the sounds, but also it is totally comfortable to play sitting down. The guitar "hugs" perfectly while playing sitting down especially. Standing up its fine to play as well no easier or harder than a strat. It's kind of heavy but… read more it's honestly so well shaped that it doesn't matter to me. The neck feels really nice and I'm happy with it. (The neck is the most important thing when it comes to playing if you ask me) it has that vintage glossy look/feel. It's super comfortable and relatively fast Cons.. there is a slight learning curve with the bridge. You will have to slightly adapt your technique but it's no different than the learning curve of going from a strat to a Paul… it's kind of heavy but not really… it's not an insta-shred guitar like the charvel teles were when they had those left handed.. but it has the right fuel if you add a little heat. This needs to be said. At this point in history Fender Mexico is clearly superior in build quality than American products. Over the summer I briefly owned one of the fender deluxe strats and while it was nice it wasn't like wow I'm playing a 2000$ guitar. This is the second recent fender Mexico product I've owned (the other being a charvel sassafras) and this jaguar is absolutely superior in every way to both my charvel and my high end strat, especially the inspiration to create. And the charvel was about on par but half the price… this is absolutely a historic period in which the Mexican fender products are superior than the American made. Let's not forget about fender japan in the late 80s… (thank you guitar history YouTube channels) In conclusion i easily have this guitar at 5 stars. It's a must have and honestly it's a marketing mistake to try to sell this guitar off the basis of Kurt cobain. This is a guitar for anyone including people who are not fans of nirvana. I was actually hesitant to even buy it because it's like "oh I'm just a nirvana fan music nerd" and also if you've ever watched any nirvana concerts Kurt's guitar playing is kind of lazy and crappy and his tone is as well.. and that's coming from a real nirvana fan.. but this guitar kills it. All in all I'm a fan of this guitar and I absolutely love it. Whether you're a nirvana fan or just looking for something that's completely good but different this guitar is a must have.
Kurt Cobain fan!!
Great guitar overall , pickups sound great, feel heavy in the hand (9lbs) , jus get the guitar lol
DO IT!
If you're reading this review you're a lefty, and you know how hard it can be to find a neat-o guitar that isn't cookie cutter. I have an American Standard Strat and a Les Paul 60's Standard on the way (set to ship in December), and I wanted to add a third axe to my arsenal without overlapping sounds. In my research on available guitars I was struck by the Cobain Jaguar, but was… read more hesitant because my playing style is more classic rock and less grunge - And this being a faithful remake of Kurt's Jaguar I was fearful I might box myself in to what I can play on this. In addition the "Made in Mexico" threw me off a bit, having previously owned a MIM Strat. With some guidance from Colton, I was assured when it comes to a more limited/special type of guitar greater care is taken, and the quality would not be lacking (as opposed to a mass produced model, for example). It was between this and an American Jazzmaster, and finally I pulled the trigger and opted for a bone nut swap and PLEK (first time ordering this service). Upon receipt and opening the case, of course it looked stunning which was no surprise. I plugged her in and got tuned up, and started playing with some different presets on my Fender Mustang GT. After a few minutes of noodling it was clear - WOW, this guitar is stellar and sounds great! Epic crunch and gain on the Marshall settings, and not muddy at all on the clear presets. The bridge & neck pickups are great compliments to each other and provide very different sounds which is a great kicker. Zep, Skynyrd, Pink Floyd, and yes of course Nirvana - All sounded great. Now, my only fear is my strat might collect dust! If you want to add a really cool really unique guitar to your collection that will play as great as it looks, then don't hesitate to pick this up...I'm so very pleased I did! Happy playing.
