Awesome Baritone Ukes!

I bought two Lanakai baritones, one flame maple with cutaway and pickup for myself, and an oak without cutaway or pickup for my son, about $ less in price than the flame maple. The oak is a little more subdued and rounder sounding and the maple has a little more punch, I suspect it will sound slightly better in a mix. Both are amazing looking instruments, play beautifully, and the read more pickup on the maple sounds perfect through my Bose PA. I highly recommend these Lanakai baritones, I was considering spending the same money on a vintage instrument and I'm very glad I bought these instead.

Perfect entry into the baritone world

Firstly, Sweetwater and Riley Koenemann were great as always. Thank-you! Now for the Lanikai Flame Maple Bari Ukulele: Pros - I bought this because I already had two Kala ukuleles and I wanted to try something a little different but still at the same quality level. Lanikai did not disappoint. I wanted the slightly more bright sound from the maple, and it is brighter, but it read more still retains a good bit of warmth in the sound. The neck is good and straight and the action is not too high out the box. Fretwork is pretty good, even at this price range. Electronics work well and sound instrument appropriate, well done Fishman. The tuners a pretty good as well. Provided strap buttons are nice but I will probably add another as Im not a fan of the location of the heel button. Cons - It is laminate, so it may not suit the needs of some. The electronics kinda stick out in the sound hole causing some unsightliness. There are a couple glue spots a round the bridge that could have been cleaned better. And the nut is cut a little high. None of the cons are deal breakers and I had to get picky to be honest. I would recommend this to any one looking for a Baritone Uke or maybe even a "travel guitar". Overall, good job Lanikai.

What a great baritone!

I am really happy with my Lanikai FM-CEB baritone ukulele. First off, it is a beauty. The build looks very tidy and professional to me. And the tone is wonderful. This is my first baritone, as I primarily play tenors. The tone is mellow and pleasant which is what I was looking for. The no tie bridge is a plus for me and I am quite satisfied with the Fishman electronics.

Two Words: Awe Some!

This uke arrived today. I removed it from its cozily packed double box and included gig bag, and was surprised to discover the battery for the pickup was included and it was already tuned and in tune! Strummed and picked through a couple of songs acoustically and was delighted with the full rich tone. Then plugged in to my amp--wow! Just GORGEOUS! This beauty sounds as good as she read more looks! I have an Oscar Schmidt baritone Uke (acoustic) that I recently restrung, and this Lanikai just puts that one to shame as far as tone, intonation, feel and playability. If you're looking for the tinny, almost toy-like sound of a classic soprano or tenor Uke, this is NOT the instrument for you. If, however, you'd like a quality instrument that sounds almost as full and rich as a good classical guitar in a pint-sized package with just four strings and a very nice Fishman pickup and tuner? This is your huckleberry!
