Lanikai QM-red stain tenor
Wider nut than most tenors ukuleles, fast neck. No problem with them being put through stomp boxes and amps. Only negative was this one didn't get a 55 point inspection or set up, the other two did.
Beautiful....but....
I purchased the Lanikai Quilted Maple, Tenor Acoustic Electric in RED. The instrument is absolutely stunning with the firey red color and a great bag to store and carry the uke. It's definitely a bigger ukulele than i'm used to as the fret markers are a bit wider apart than my other tenor ukulele i own, so if you have bigger hands, this is a good ukulele for you. The sound is definitely… read more a lot bolder and bigger as well, which i love. The inlay around the sound hole is really beautiful and the black piping around the body really finish the instrument off nicely. The headstock is wonderfully designed with the tuning pegs facing back vs. to the sides. After a few weeks, the D'Addario EJ88 strings are nice and broken in and retain their tuning. However, what i don't like is it seems the walnut material on the fingerboard is cracking and just looks really cheap. For a $389 ukulele, i think it is over priced for a laminate ukulele.
So so much more than I hoped for!
Purchased Nov 2018. Yes it's beautiful, yes it's exceptionally well made. However In my opinion a musical instrument should be 99% rated for its sound quality. The Lanikai will not disappoint on any level, acoustically or plugged in. I fully agree with people that hear this ukulele when they say, "best ukulele I've ever heard in my life". Finger-picking, finger strumming or strumming… read more with a pick incredible sound! The dynamic range on this Lanakai is unbelievable! Oh yeah, and it stays in tune.
Gorgeous Sound
I have had my eye on this uke for many months, and finally just last week I paid a visit to Sweetwater to see it in person. I took it home. This Lanikai is well-crafted and breathtakingly beautiful. I am in love with this ukulele. Gorgeous warm tone with tons of volume that bellows with a full and deep resonance that makes you want to keep practicing and performing. If you're… read more looking for a "step up" and if you're serious about learning the ukulele, then this one will not disappoint!
Great Ukulele
Great Uke! Sounds awesome. I have yet to plug it into an amp, but the acoustic sound is sweet. Oh...and after the strings get broken in and stretched, it stays in tune longer than other Ukuleles I"ve owned.
