Lava Coil Cable
Well my coil cable is all they claim it is. It's got a clean Sound to it. It's nice and rugged. I noticed a difference between my old coil cable and the Lava cable volume and tone wise. Would I recommend this cable to any one that wants a coil cable, Highly. Do yourself a big favor and just save your coins to buy this one instead of a cheap one that pucks after the warranty is up.… read more Other guys have had there problems with cheap coil cable too! What if you were at a gig and it petered out then what? Just saying.
Coily cable vs. Straight cable
I read the different conversations about whether or not a coily cable is actually better or iif it actually makes a difference. My first foray into coily cables was the Lava cable. I did lots of research and read a lot of reviews. I watched a YouTube video where the coily cable made a difference in the tone of the guitar. The Lava cable was more expensive than other tables but… read more it had very good reviews. It also came in nice deep red color and I liked that. It was more expensive but I had some extra Christmas money so I went ahead and purchased it. The follow-up customer service from Sweetwater was very impressive and I really liked the cable when it came in. As soon as I plug it in I really liked the sound that I was getting out of it. At some point I did a comparison between my high quality straight cable and I did notice a difference between the tone. The coily cable really did roll off the harsh high-end frequencies that I got with my straight cable. I didn't do a more in-depth comparison by trying to roll off my high end frequencies with the tone knob on my guitar but I didn't really care, at that point. I can't do a long-term review of the cable since I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but so far, I really like it. I would strongly consider getting another Lava cable, in the future.
