First LP
This was the very first Les Paul I ever purchased. I've had this guitar for about 7 years now. And I have 8 other main guitars in my collection. And this thing still gets picked up almost every time I decide to jam. In my opinion this is the most bang for your buck guitar you can buy. Yes it doesn't have a flame top or binding. But even without, it's still one of the most beautiful… read more guitars I own. The sound and feel is right there with any standard that your going to pay a thousand dollars more for. The neck is very thin and plays fast. The pots are on point. The noises that come out of this thing are limitless. You can have that fat chunky famous LP sound. You can also have a light twangy spank, single coil sounds. I love this thing and will never sell it. It's one of those with you for life work horse guitars you need in your collection.
Beautiful Guitar
This is my first Gibson and what a beautiful guitar!! Perry at Sweetwater was very impressive with keeping me updated with my order as this model was on back order - the joys of being left handed!! Sweetwater is definitely a great source for gear, tutorials and info. I will be ordering more gear and look forward to working with Perry. Plus I love the candy!!
Flawless!
I was born with a curse. The curse of left-handedness. I've owned an Epiphone Custom Pro, and a PRS Custom SE. They are both very good guitars, and I've bought them from Sweetwater. I play a very specific type of music: Primitive metal. Stuff like old Mayhem, Darkthrone, Burzum, etc... I run my guitars into an Orange Dark Terror tube amp and a 2x12 Orange Cab. When I opened up… read more the box and saw this amazing red wine colored Les Paul, my eyes just lit up and I smiled for probably 12 hours. Thankfully, the smile finally wore off later, as I didn't want anyone thinking there was something wrong with me! Anyway, the first detail that actually struck me about this guitar was just how insanely smooth and well cut this fretboard actually is compared to what I'm used to with my other guitars. It's incredible. This Les Paul blows away my Epiphone Custom Pro in every single way. It's not as bulky, and the tone and sustain sound EXACTLY the way I want them too. I love these pickups. This Studio has both bite and growl. Exactly what I was looking for. I want to say thank you to Ed Needler if you are reading this. He's been just about the best customer support rep I've ever dealt with on the phone. If you are a lefty, and you've played around with an Epiphone Les Paul and you read this review.... do not hesitate to buy this LPS. Sure, it's a lot more expensive..but if you can afford it, it's worth every single penny. I'm not even trying to knock Epiphone here. I love my Epi Les Paul. I just couldn't believe the actual difference between a Gibson LP and an Epiphone LP. This is my first Gibson, so now I finally understand what all of the fuss is about.
