Awesome tone for the price
Initial review: I got this on a whim because it's basically a mini guitar, with out the bottom two strings. This thing sounds good both plugged in and acoustically. It sounds massive compared to my lanikai concert. It has a lot of bass and a solid mid range. I also ordered this because the back is extremely figured, and my next ukulele will ALSO be made of koa. finish: The look… read more of the instrument is eye catching personally, with many different accents throughout the wood. I thought this looked tacky at first, but when I saw this when searching, I found some beauty in it. It looks even more beautiful in person, with all the wood, pearls, shells that make up this instrument. There are very little flaws I noticed, a random piece of fuzz some how got under the end of the fretboard. The rest I noticed was probably from me banging it around but the first thing I noticed when unboxing a tiny little indent, not even noticeable to the eye, but in the light you can see it. It is gloss, which I really enjoy, and makes the instrument pop. Playability: Now I am a guitarist from the start, and this was a seemingly easy transition, being tuned similarly and having a somewhat similar scale length, and 20.2 inches from nut to bridge. Being tuned DGBE, it felt like nothing different from a guitar. I have normal sized hands, and it fits beautifully in them. Tone: This thing ROARS, it can get surprisingly loud, with the help of the kula pickup, and acoustically on its own. It has a boom to it, which keeps bringing me back. Craftsmanship: Next to none in my opinion, this instrument was beautifully crafted from the good folks at Luna, and I noticed no real flaws in the instrument itself. Compared to some of my guitars in this price range, this is definitely loads better QC wise. No scratches, dents, dings at all. The frets are very nice feeling and well rounded over. The nut and bridge are both bone, which I really enjoy. Materials of the instrument: Absolute top of the line for an instrument in this range. Rosewood fingerboard, mahogany neck, laminated koa body and different woods for the top and a fishman pickup and bone nut and saddle. This thing keeps in tune really good. Overall: For my first time owning a baritone Ukulele, this was a treat to have. For a beginner, or someone looking to get into ukulele, this is a great choice.
