Martin D-12E Koa Review

Not Bad…But a Bit Overpriced

I received my Martin D12E Koa Sitka Spruce acoustic-electric guitar today. Out of the box it was in relatively good tune, but needed some adjustment. The neck is very comfortable to play, with no fret sprout. The overall construction, fit and finish are all very nice. Tone wise, it sounds relatively well-balanced, although it doesn't have much of the classic Martin bottom end that… read more I've heard with other Martin acoustic guitar models. The Fishman pickup sounds great through my Fishman acoustic amp, and the built-in tuner is a big plus. The action on mine is high, which is a little disappointing, and I'll have to get the bridge sanded down a bit at some point. Overall, I think this is a nice "no frills" Martin for the working musician, but I think the price tag is too high for this particular model of Martin. Although I plan to hold onto the guitar, I do feel a little remiss that I didn't consider other Martin model options in this general price range. Hopefully, my opinion of this guitar will improve over time.

EXCELLENT!!!

This is an excellent choice for those of us who desire to have the trademark Martin sound but find ourselves limited on financial resources. I have had mine for just a few weeks and I find it to be better than what I anticipated. Once purchased, this will be your go to guitar. Trust me. Learning to play at 54

Absolutely love this guitar. Played a bunch of different acoustics at a local shop and really fell in love with the Martin sound. I purchased here due to the awesome price and customer service, thanks Buster! I was a little leery about spending this much on a mail order guitar but it arrived quickly, was packaged extremely well, and was even in tune and set up perfectly. I've had a couple of my guitar playing friends check it out and they both love its sound and playability. I practice daily and pick it up just to strum when I'm bored. It's just so nice.
