Excellent Value
This instrument is an excellent value. It's very well made, the fit and finish is perfect, and the guitar was (Plek'd and) correctly set up at the the factory. The Spruce + Sapele sounds incredible. This instrument sounds amazing right out of the box, and is only going to blossom as it gets played in. I really like the Martin Lifespan SP 2.0 strings that were on it. They… read more were fine and playable, but I alway like to put a brand new set on. They feel and sound great. This is an expensive and make no mistake…a stage ready professional instrument. You don't have to spend a fortune to get a great Martin, and this instrument is more than worth every penny.
Bought the 12E in 2021
Sounded great right out of the box. Love the built-in tuner, so convenient. Electric works well with my Katana2 100; sounds nice; does not sound like a piezo, sounds like it is mic'ed. I tune it down to open C. A little jangly due to less tension, but I love that sound. I bought a D-28, but I play the 12E more (every day).
A Great Workhorse
Ever since I bought a DRS2 some years ago I've been favorably impressed with the Martin products coming out of Mexico. This guitar has top-notch craftsmanship, so it's beautiful, the neck is plecked and the action is buttery, the tone is quite full and rich (you may need to experiment with different types and guages of strings), and the sound will improve as the tonewoods age. I… read more actually prefer the tone of sapele back and sides because, to my ears, it has the midrange of mahogany AND the bass and sparkle of rosewood. It's the best of both! That makes this guitar a great workhorse for any occasion. I am quite happy with this guitar and I think you will be also.
Excellent for the price
If you can live with the richlite it's phenomenal.
Amazing Guitar
Just got this from Sweetwater today. It shipped really fast and was perfect out of the box. This guitar plays and sounds amazing. Just as good as some of the D-28’s I’ve played in the past. It’s a good more affordable option. I’m also a big fan of the richlite finger board. It’s so nice to play and I like the way it looks. I almost went with the D10e but the Gloss finish… read more and open back tuners are well work the extra $... I’m excited to play this guitar for a very long time!
