Martin OM 28 Deluxe
I own 6 Martins. The King is my HD 28. But this OM is the real deal great tones, both bass and high notes. Resonates, easy to play. Action is great. Neck is easy on your wrist. Recorded with it just last night in my studio in our garage. Used my little shore Mike hook up to my phone. Have Mike hanging to puck up sounds, both voice and guitar. Plugged into a Fender amp. Sounded great.… read more Guitar not plugged in. This guitar is outstanding. And the appointments are beautiful. Not only great to play. But it is fun just to open the caes and look at it. Great buy.
Honest opinion after a year of ownership
I've owned a 000-28 for about 15 years. I really like the auditorium size of the body and sound of it but the neck was a bit too narrow for me. Most of my other guitars have a wider neck and a V-shaped profile. Also it lacks a pickup. I had a chance to spend some time a few years ago with an OM-42 at a guitar show and really liked the feel of the wider neck. When the modern deluxe… read more series was released it ticked all the boxes for me: Auditorium body, OM neck size and profile, vintage sound, and a pickup system that sounds like a properly miked acoustic guitar (NOT a rubber band). Sold. I'm in love with the sound of this guitar; so pure. And the pickup system is just brilliant. But (you know there was one...) the frets/neck are WRONG. If seems like the frets are too high for the neck profile. This guitar actually hurts my left hand if I play it for a long period of time. Perhaps a bit more radius on the fretboard? I can play my 000-28 for hours without any fatigue. Would I sell this instrument and buy something else? No. But, I can envision my perfect acoustic guitar with the playablity of a Taylor and the sound of a Martin. Perhaps one already exists? I'd also like to thank the always professional Sweetwater staff and Tyler in particular for assisting me with this purchase.
