Won't fit an Epiphone

Brendan Martin

The plastic jack plate on my Epiphone Les Paul broke, requiring me to find a replacement. My VERY first concern was hole spacing. I initially figured there would be a difference between Epiphone and Gibson models, regarding this hole pattern. A healthy round of Google searching for "Epiphone Les Paul Jack Plate" proved this might not be the case, as all I could find were Gibson read more variants - dimensions not included. I took the plunge and bought this metal one (shouldn't randomly shatter the same way the plastic one did). First off, this thing only came with two screws - not four like the picture suggests. I suppose I can forgive them though, seeing as how I had screws from my previous plate. Secondly, my initial concerns regarding hole spacing were correct. The spacing here is slightly large. To get around this, I ended up sanding down toothpicks to glue into three of the existing holes. I screwed one end of the plate into the fourth hole and positioned the plate so I could map out the other holes. I then drilled three new holes and screwed the plate into place. Aside from the hassle, this is a nice piece of hardware. I'd of given it 5 stars had it come with the right amount of screws and fit properly.
