Ruby is taking her love to town....
To be honest I was very nervous about the whole buying a guitar online. In my opinion buying any musical instrument is like buying a car. You pretty much gotta test drive it first. My very first guitar is a Kaman Applause AA14-1. I still own it. It is used and abused, dented and dinged, but it still sounds great. The aluminum finger board is so worn down from years of play that… read more the high E has a permanent buzz or twang. My initial fear of buying online was not that I thought Sweetwater was going to send a bad or damaged guitar. My basic fear was that the Fedex Gorillas were going to tear it up in shipping and I would have to deal with that mess ugh... Well Ruby was delivered in one piece. No scratches, no dents, no dings. I strapped her on, tuned her up and started strumming. I noticed right away her action has way harder than my other guitar, and I remembered reading a review from some fella who said he bought one and the action sucked so he sent it back. Then my experience and some knowledge the friend gave me years ago kicked in. Its a brand new guitar it still has all the shims under the saddle bridge. I loosened the strings gently pulled the saddle bridge out, removed the shims, and tuned her back up. Ruby's action is now awesome. I love this guitar so much that I am back to playing 2 to 3 hours a day. My advise for anyone who is nervous or has second thoughts. These Sweetwater folks know what they are doing. They did it right. They even called me the same day I submitted the order to set my mind at ease. They absolutely rock.
My new Ovation Celebrity Standard Guitar
I did not want to boatload of money for a guitar, so I purchased the Celebrity. I love the richness of the sound that emanates from the solid spruce body. It's a beautiful guitar and the color is to "die" for.
Amazing guitar!
Just got this guitar today. I Have a Martin GPCPA4R that I purchased through Sweetwater about four years ago and it is a great sounding guitar...but this Ovation Celebrity has such a smooth sound and beautiful tones...I compared two guitars today and I think my Ovation was much the same maybe better. I was able to do more with the new Ovation Celebrity. I was up and down the… read more frets on this guitar like no other guitar I have ever owned, due to the thinner neck and the distance of the strings from the frets. I always have had trouble doing bar chords...but it is a breeze with this guitar.....I am trying this out during worship practice tomorrow night....still love my Martin too....
A great guitar and a awesome bunch of people at Sweetwater.
This ovation has the same sweet sound like the ones I used to mess around with in 1978 while in the US Navy. The good people of Sweetwater set this Guitar up very awesome. I not wanted to put it down hardly since I gotten it.
Bang for the buck!
When I purchased this acoustic, I was just looking for a cheapie to mess around with since I play electric guitar and bass. This Ovation Celebrity may be inexpensive but it is in NO WAY cheap. I give a lot of credit to the techs at Sweetwater for the expert setup they did on this instrument. The tuning and intonation was PERFECT and there was not a single dead spot or fret buzz… read more anywhere on the entire neck. There are a lot of acoustics out their that sell for below $400.00 but they DO have dead spots and fret buzz. This particular Ovation has the mid size bowl back that really produces decent sound and tone dry or unplugged but when you do plug it in and add a bit of delay or chorus, then it is sonic candy to the ears. Also the neck is nice and thin making in fast like an electric and I might also add there was not a single sharp edged fret on this neck. Super smooth from top to bottom! This guitar truly plays and sounds beautifully and like an acoustic costing many times more. It may be made in China but the quality is every bit as good as an American made instrument. The only complaint is the bowl is a little bigger on the back than would allow you to play it without a strap unless you are really skinny. No problem though, just add a strap and enjoy. This is a great acoustic for a beginner or advance player as well. Overall, very high quality build and sound. Oh yeah and the ruby red is absolutely beautiful.
