Would be great if they stuck.
It's a great idea that I wish worked as advertised. You need to lightly moisten the cup to get it to stick for any length of time and even then it will eventually fall off. If you're concerned about harming the wood finish use the pick guard or, even better, don't buy it at all and get a Pick Geek Wedgie instead which is so much better.
Ernie Ball Pick Buddy
Falls off by itself without touching it. I like Ernie Ball products, so I hate to say this, but this particular product is not worth the $$.
Works great now
It would pop off randomly till I thought of wetting the suction cup before applying. Problem solved! It hasn't fallen off since. I wouldn't recommend placing a wet suction cup on a guitars finish, but it's okay on the pick guard. Also, I use really thick picks that are way too tight initially. But it's finally broken in and works great!
I think this is good
I got tired of losing picks, so when I saw this product, I got very interested. Initially it kept falling, so I tried a couple of things (e.g., location, angle, etc.). The trick that worked is to place the pick holder vertically to the guitar body (parallel to the neck/strings). This way, when the guitar is on a rack placed vertically, the weight of the pick holder and a pick… read more rests on the body in a balanced way. The part of the weight kind of pushes the holder against the body, which as a result keeps it stay. If you place it horizontally to the guitar body, it will fall in a short amount of time. I buy specialty guitar picks from eBay and I hate to lose them. I think I found a solution. I don't know yet if the product will lose suction power. I don't use it on the stage, so I don't know how strongly it will hold itself. For my specific purpose of not losing guitar picks while practicing at home, this seems like a good product.
Stopped working
I bought this because I play keys a lot and wanted an easy solution for going back and forth between keys and guitar. It worked for the first gig I played but now it just randomly pops off. I actually don't even know where it is now lol good concept but had a feeling the suction cup would lose its hold. And it definitely did! It's fairly cheap so not a big deal but I wouldn't… read more buy another one.
