PRS Hollowbody II 10-Top Piezo
Arrived the other day and with several hours of playing I am read to offer my comments and suggestions. The Guitar came via FedX Ground in-a-box which contained the PRS shipping box, good packaging by Sweetwater. As soon as I opened it I was thinking dang this is a small guitar case and he guitar must have shrunk ... upon opening it was just the right size and very light (Kudos… read more to PRS for keeping with down). I connected to my Fender Deluxe Reverb and for Piezo to my Fishman Artist Acoustic Amp. Controls are easy and silent and sounds to both amps was excellent - nice clean tone (Fender) and nice Acoustic Tones to the Fishman. Playing with the switches I prefer the Piezo Switch in the center position which combines it with the Humbuckers. I then connect to my Marshall Amp and discovered all the tone possibilities with Humbuckers and Piezo. As for tonal quality both clean and crunch, it sits between my Gibson Les Paul Standard HP and Fender Custom Stratocaster. I am thinking I now have the best of both worlds and with all the tonal options I do. Now for playability, given the fact these are heaver strings .010 and with a wound "g" or third string, it feels very tight and takes more finger pressure bending and tremolo. It came with the String height closer to my Guild Capri which is higher than both Gibson and Fender. The means a bit more pressure and I am sure I can lower them a bit to suit my style. For playing Fender Strat is by far the easiest, followed by Gibson, then PRS and Guild. Build quality, fit and finish is terrific as one would expect for an expensive guitar. The more I play it, the more I like it and for me its a keeper and my main goto guitar for recording rhythm.
