Mesa 2x12 Recto Cabinet
I am currently still breaking in this cabinet, so I will update this review accordingly once I have finished with the break-in process. I currently am playing a Les Paul Custom silverburst through an Orange Dark Terror (Telefunken Black Diamond and Gold Lion EL84 power tubes with Tung-Sol preamp tubes). I run an eq to a compressor to a delay in the fx loop). When I use overrdrive… read more pedals, I use Caitlinbread DLS or RAH or a Mr. Black Classic 88. Originally I was playing through a Marshal MX212A cabinet, and it sounded like there was a wetblanket over the cab. Ofcourse, this cab uses Celestion 70/80 speakers. So I decided instead of replacing the speakers to get this Mesa cab. My first thoughts were that the cabinet sounded much more alive. It was less muddled and much brighter than the Marshall. I also noticed that I was getting more gain and volume at lower settings. This cabinet was the missing piece in my sound. With the addition of this cabinet, I now have a professional quality rig that is perfect for studio or gigging. The cabinet sounds fantastic and looks awesome. I would highly recommend this cabinet to anyone. Zach was my Sweetwater technician, and he was awesome. I received a phone call from him right after placing the order. Shipping was also super fast, within two days. I will be making my future guitar/amp purchases from Sweetwater. Thanks.
