Not bad, could be better

I've been using this tuner for about 3-4 years now. The idea behind it is great. Sit perfectly fine on my Taylor 814ce, isn't loose, never had an issue with it falling off the way others have said in their reviews, doesn't scratch the wood. I like that it can stay on my guitar, making it one less independent item I have to store in the pouch of my gig bag. That being said, I read more find 2 flaws with this tuner. The first is that it uses an uncommon lithium battery, CR1620. This is not a battery you can find at your nearby Walmart or Target. If your city has a store that is specific to batteries, they MIGHT have it. My biggest issue with this tuner is that it picks up sound interference very easily. Now, that can be the case for most tuners but this is supposed to be the equivalent of a clip on tuner which are supposedly more accurate in noisy environments (I've yet to buy into that after all these years). With this tuner, when there's interference the sensor goes crazy and jumps randomly between notes. Even when you haven't plucked a string it will do that and often times when it does it won't stop for a while. I have to power down the tuner and restart it again to get it back to normal. For added context, I play Sunday Mass at church and I'm tuning before Mass, when a lecturer is reciting the Rosary. Just that alone, an individual talking into a mic, will at times throw off this tuner. If that problem could be fixed then I would give this a higher rating, despite the less popular battery.

Prepare for Soundhole Fishing

The Rimpitch is a great design, pitch accurate, and well-built, but I find that my soundboard is too thin at the soundhole to engage the rubber grips. As a result, the slightest nudge--sometimes even just strumming--unseats the tuner from its perch, and gravity takes over. I've spent more time shaking the Rimpitch out of the guitar than I have actually tuning. This is more of a read more "mismatch" problem with my instrument (Martin DXK2AE) than a problem with the tuner itself, but an important consideration, I think, given the frustration of soundhole fishing over and over and over.

Design flaw - Just my opinion.

I like the idea of not having a clip-on tuner hanging from the headstock. The Korg Rimpitch works well, and fits neatly on soundhole rim. Out of the way and always there. The design flaw, in my opinion is: It uses a single CR1620 battery. Battery life seems ok, and it does have auto -shut off. But why in the world they didn't design it to use the more popular CR2032, is beyond me. read more Most on-board tuners and clip-on tuner use the CR2032. I keep several in each guitar case. But now I will have to order and carried CR1620's as well. This is a small price to pay for the convenience of not having to deal with a clip-on tuner. But they could have design it to use a little bigger and more popular battery. Just my 2 cents.

Nice tuner

I bought this only because I had 25 CR1620 batteries left over from fitness bracelets that didn't work correctly. I've been using Snark tuners for years, but this seems just as accurate, without blocking the headstock logo. There are warnings that it may damage the finish of your guitar, but since my guitars rarely last more than three years, I'm not concerned. It takes a little read more getting used to the display, although it is es sy to read,, and the power switch, but overall I'm very pleased. So with all my batteries, I've got 1500 hours of continuous tuning.

"The best" acoustic guitar tuner!

Problems with earlier model(s), as described by the pro from Texas, have, it would seem, been corrected. I've had one for a little more than a year or so, and they do, now, shut themselves off. I believe they're on a 5 minute timer. Too, no fine scratching. So, as stated, the problems have been corrected. Korg does recommend you move it periodically in the sound hole (just read more slide it a little in one direction or the other) to avoid any damage to the guitar's finish... otherwise... a very excellent design. It's super convenient, very discrete, and easy to use. It's accurate, and easy to read. Everything you get it for it does better than the rest. Get one and you'll never go back. One observation: My experience with a new Guild D-40, the fit is not as tight as needed to secure the tuner. It could easily fall into the sound hole or onto the floor. Be careful.
