Runt Cabinet with Runt 50 watt head!
Friedman needs to discover the beauty of the Celestion G12M-25watt speakers, the amp sounds WAY better for me through my vintage Marshall 1960AX cabinet than through the Runt Cabinet. (I'm doing early Clapton, SRV, Trower and Blackmore style rock through it) Metal guys would be fine with the beefier 30 watt speakers, and they do sound better at full volume (if you can survive… read more that). I think that's why Friedman used the 30s, quite frankly they are harder to blow up! I use it as a late 60s early 70s heavy rock amp - and it works well!
Those Vintage 30's all week
This cab is so big and punchy, it's off the chain. With a single channel Marshall JCM800 it's tight focused lows (all about the closed back, prominent clear highs, warm forward midrange as dialed in with amp. Guitar volume punches this up...the dynamic range is incredible. Speaker break in happens in a matter of hours with variable gain volume applied. Has a lovely bloom emerge… read more early. Can't wait to get a BE-100 behind it (or maybe a 50 watt offering from Friedman/other), anyway you front it...it's a big runt with a whole lot of grunt in a compact 2X12 120 Watt 8 ohm box of joy. Can't miss with this, and your back will not miss the 4X12. Win win.
Friedman Rocks
Friedman is just killing it these days as a guitar amp / cab / pedal manufacturer. (And has been really since they started - but they seemed to have switched into a higher gear the past few years.) Quality of construction outpaces a big swath of the competition (won't name names...). There is an elegance and sturdiness to the build. End of the day, it's all about tone, which Dave… read more Friedman has literally dedicated his life to. The cab sounds big. Rich beefy bottom that does not overpower. Handles Dave's famous distortion and OD perfectly. Really nice top end that is not ice-picky. Gets nice and bell-like when going clean. No ear fatigue with this cab (or the Runt 50 head.) Sounds great at any level, and is beautifully made.
Love it
I am a 2x12 cab kind of guy so I wanted to try a ported cab. I am extremely glad with this cabinet. Great tons playing at low or loud volumes.
Friedman runt 2-12 cab
Huge tone. Perfectly matches the runt 50 head. Worth every penny
