This guitar blew me away. It's easy to play and sounds amazing. Also, the slotted headstock sold me on the looks.

P3NY Worth Every Penny

I have been playing guitar for quite awhile and own/have owned several guitars(acoustic & electric) over the years including Gibsons, Martins, Fenders, Taylors, Takamines, and Dan Electos. I tend to keep my guitars for the long term and most of my instruments fall into the 10-25+ year category. I have been planning to "retire" some of my more expensive (not easy to replace) guitars read more from gigging. I have 2 other Taks but when I came across the P3NY on Sweetwater, I stopped in my tracks. I have become a fan of small body, Parlor style acoustics and this one seemed to be what I was looking for. Since they were out of stock, it allowed me to do some additional research. What I found made me forego the Martins and the Gibsons I had been considering. I have NEVER purchased a guitar before without playing it first but I read every review and watched every video that I could find a few times. When I decided to take the chance, I received an email from Sweetwater that they just received some stock. The rest is history.... The guitar is absolutely AWESOME. No kidding. The sound is huge and even and resonant. Both plugged in or not. All of this coming from a parlor size guitar. The solid Cedar top is beautiful, the workmanship is beautiful, the hardware is perfect for the style and I love the slot headstock. There is not a lot of bells and whistles but I truly believe that they would take away from the overall beauty of this instrument.I cannot wait to take it to gigs. Hopefully soon.... My only complaint is that there is a small area of the included hardshell case where the covering is coming loose. I really believe that my new P3NY is going to be a long term friend. P.S. Jake Trethaway - Thank you Man! You were awesome as well.

Great little parlor axe

I didn't buy this guitar from sweetwater, although purchased other items. I saw a wonderful review by a gentlemen in the video describing this Takamine instrument and was compelled to try it. I couldn't find any online or locally until I found a closeout model here in my state with a terrific price. I tried it out and bought this guitar within 10 minutes of playing , maybe less. read more This guitar really is a sweet one, small but with a loud sweet voice. I have some high-end guitars from martin, taylor, and larrivee, but lately I seem to reach for this one. For one thing the preamp on this baby is really good, better than a lot I've tried before. I don't know what the formula is for this instrument but it's a winner for sure. I like plugging this in and playing its so natural. I think Takamine has something going on here, it's an awesome guitar.

Until I acquired the P3NY my primary instrument was my Martin 000-17SM. Still love the 000-17 but it has seen very little play time since the P3 moved in. It is easy to fret and sounds fantastic.

GREAT LITTLE AX

I have been playing this guitar for one year and, frankly, I suspect it will be the last acoustic I ever buy. In 30-years of playing more than a dozen acoustics have passed through my hands, some decent cheap guitars (Yamaha, Ovation) as well as some decent expensive ones (Taylor, Martin.) I fell in love with small body guitars when I bought a Lariveé Parlor guitar in 2002. read more I ended up giving that ax away to a very needy friend, who was a much better player than I, and really needed a guitar. Don’t ask what happened to it. Last year I saw three video reviews of the Takemine Professional line of acoustics. In two of videos, the reviewer mentioned that they loved the P3NY so much, that they bought one. That got my attention and I called my long-time sales rep Brendan Murphy. He’s been taking good care of me for almost 20-years, a great guy and very knowledgeable. Turns out, these guitars are produced in very small numbers. Thankfully, Brendan was able to secure one for me within a few days. Everything about this guitar is designed to make it sound better. The slotted headstock and pin-less bridge truly enhance sustain. Pluck the two E strings and the tone rings for 10+ seconds. Really. The cedar top gives the balanced tone a rich bass response that belies the size of this instrument. The fret work is perfect. The asymmetrical neck is a joy to play on. It’s got killer tone for finger style and great chunk on palm-muted chords. The preamp is good for plugging in. Construction seems perfect. It’s light, beautiful and very hard to put down.
