Great guitar
The guitar sounds as beautiful as it looks. It came ready to play out of the box. There was a slight chip on the binding where the neck meets the body. It's a fantastic instrument.
Would of given 5 stars
This guitar is beautiful. The craftsmanship is almost flawless. My only complaint is the factory setup. The saddle height needs adjustment. The gap between the fretboard and strings at the 12th fret is too large.Im not sure about the nut because I'm not a luthier I honestly didn't check it from the 3rd fret to see the string height.I think the string Guage from the factory is a 11 or… read more 12 on the high E string.I wish Sweetwater offered a post factory setup option during checkout.I would of went with a lighter gauge easier playing string.Im doing some upgrades to mine to set it apart from other Taylors.
Great sound
Absolutely love the sound and playability. A special shout out to Matt my sales guy great job man really appreciate all your help.
New 214ce QS Deluxe
Just bought one of these new and feel it's an excellent value for the price. Mine needed no adjustment to the setup. I greatly prefer the forward shifted X bracing over the V class bracing on higher end models. Much better tone and sustain. Not a fan of the ES-2 pickup system. I also own a Taylor 114 and 214. I had both fitted with K&K Pure Mini pickups and they sound MUCH better… read more plugged in vs the ES-2. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase.
Nice tone, will need set up
This is a great sounding relatively inexpensive Taylor. Very attractive with the deluxe package. Nice mellow tone, not real punchy. But, as is typical with Taylor, the action is super high out of the box and will require a professional set-up. There is a substantial bow in the neck, which may account for the high action. The string spacing is irregular as well, which I hope can… read more be corrected with a set-up. Frets are a little rough on the high E side. So, be prepared to spend another hundred or so for a set-up. (unless you play with high action - 2.75 ish). Probably won't ever buy another Taylor due to the lack of attention regarding the set up. Sales engineer Robb was fantastic to work with though.
