GS Mini LTD Quilted Sapele

I'm a Taylor player, my first being a Grand Pacific 317.e. I have been wanting a "parlor " sized guitar and waffled between a GT and the GS Mini. When Sweetwater put these gorgeous quilted sapele limiteds up, I made my decision. Knowing the enjoyment of spruce and sapele with my Grand Pacific, I knew this combo was for me. Yes, I know the sides and back are not solid on a Mini, read more but the quilting in the wood is still resonate and visually stunning and the solid spruce top is plenty vibrant.. Thanks to Norb my sales engineer and his team. Buy one before they're all gone.

Impressive travel guitar

I wanted a guitar to take on trips, vacations. I don't like taking my full body acoustics. Cases are large and it's a risk to try and fly with them. I won't check them as luggage so, having a small body with quality build. The GS Mini does this..no, it's not going to sound like 200 or 400 series Taylor nor does it have the fullness of my old Guild or Gibson. It's not what it is read more designed to replace. It does have a remarkably big sound for its size. It plays well. They are sensitive to string gauge (I changed strings, not caring for the factory set it came with). The action and imtonation is good ootb. The quilt on mine is really nice. The tuner and preamp/1/4" out is nice to have. The case is a nice surprise. Not going to replace my Guild or Gibson, except on trips and when I go outside to play. Loui was great and I am happy. It's a fun.guitar to play and a quality travel instrument.

It's a Taylor but not amazing

I own many guitars and at last count 5 Taylors 3 series and up. I love Taylor guitars and have always gravitated to them for their amazing quality and sound. I bought this one on a bit of a impulse for two reasons. First, I was looking for a small scale to drag around the house and play by the pool. Second, the offer for the free Taylor barstool was a no brainer. First impression read more is it is well made. The action was actually super low out of the box which I love. And because the inspection from sweetwater I honestly don't think it needs a set up. The build is what you'd expect and is in line with my much more expensive guitars. Sound wise it's bright and responsive. It's not going to match a full scale guitar so don't expect that. But honestly it sounds like most small guitars I've played whether it be a Martin or some off brand. End of day I'm pleased and it will suit my purpose. When my kiddo is old enough to start playing this will be a perfect first guitar. If you're a name snob with guitars then I guess it's worth the money but sound wise it won't get you much more than a 300 equivalent. The fact I got the barstool for free made it a solid purchase in my book.
