The best sound ever
Best guitar on taylor line up...
Beauty, eh!
Beautiful instrument, both to look at and to play. But the music it makes surpasses all that, it's simply gorgeous to listen to! Many thanks to the folks at Sweetwater and Taylor for this wonderful guitar, she's a real beauty.
Best guitar
Best guitar in taylor line up. Im so happy in my k24 now so much fun.
Quite Close to Perfect
I've had the guitar about a month now with lots of practice, several gigs, and some amateur recordings to base my review on. First, the guitar arrived in perfect order obsessively packaged for protection. Inside the two corrugated boxes was the Taylor hardshell case, red felt lined, with this beautiful piece inside. I will say it's difficult to get the true beauty of the guitar… read more from pictures. The coat is high-shine so each angle of the burst effect has a different, almost 3D look to it. Be aware the inlay is wood, not pearl as with some top-end guitars but intricately done nonetheless. The board does have dots on the side (top) for 3/5/7/9/12 for reference. The gold Gotoh tuners are a very nice touch to round off the whole package. In playing the guitar I've found the resonance to be almost unnatural. Strike a note, move on to others, and it'll ring for an eternity. The low end has more depth than my 314 model and so far the high end is really bright. I've read that the Koa wood will "mellow" the sound over time so I'm curious to see what it does. Strumming is where the piece shines I think since you get the full range of lows to highs. No complaints on picking however. The action is a little higher than other Taylors I've played but can be adjusted via the truss rod for those knowledgeable. Finally, I was initially wary of the new electronics given I've been used to the Fishman preamps for so long. No regrets. The knobs are simple to be sure, but the internals are all top notch and deliver the same unplugged sound through the equipment. Be careful with the strap. If unplugged there's not a lot to hold the back of the guitar and I've worried about dropping it. All around a stellar work of art both aesthetically and acoustically and worth every penny. A real investment for those looking to stand out in the crowd.
Love at First Sight
I have only seen one K24ce in person, and I had to have it (mine shares the same January production date as several on this site). I was blown away by the beauty of the Koa wood. The Koa wood is alive … the striping in the wood really shimmers, and the Shaded Edgeburst finish appears lighter and much more vibrant in person than any photographs would suggest. Sonically, it's amazing… read more as well, but in all honesty, it's the physical attraction.
