Great product but inconsistent

I love these straps, functionally speaking: they're well made, can take a beating and are comfortable. That said, I've ordered two sets of two of these things (a total of four straps, all black) over the past 5 months and there was a pretty extreme disparity between the finishes of the two sets. The first two straps I ordered were a beautiful, timeless, and classy looking black… read more matte finish and the two that arrived recently had a somewhat cheap looking gloss finish. The first round of straps also felt stiffer and more rugged; I think they might be my favorite straps I've ever owned. I'm not sure if the explanation is that the company has simply consciously changed the product or if the manufacturing is inconsistent. Nonetheless the variability is frustrating.
