Poor-Fitting to Accommodate Every Power Supply
I bought these brackets to secure a VodooLabs Pedal Power 3 to a Pedaltrain Classic board. I couldn't get the power supply truly secured in any fashion. The angled bracket barely contacts the power supply. This might be remedied by some serious bending of the brackets, but it's not worth the effort in my opinion. Instead I'm using the brackets that mount to the side of VL power… read more supplies. Despite them not being compatible with the Classic series boards on paper, they work completely fine, and infinitely better than this product.
Simple and useful
Obviously this bracket is not tailor-made for any particular power supply, but it works fine; exactly as I expected it to based on the pictures. Comes with screws and hook/loop tape, so it's a complete package. There aren't really any instructions, but like... you drill holes and screw it in. C'mon :) I used it to mount a Donner power supply to my PT Classic Jr because I was tired… read more of having to zip tie it over the top of the PT's slats, which sometimes interferes with precise pedal placement (can be pretty annoying on these smaller PTs when you're trying to cram every possible pedal on). After installing the brackets (as shown in the second picture on this page) and using velcro, the power supply was secured underneath the board. There was also a little extra room where I was able to stash the Donner's plug (which, annoyingly, is a wall wart) and the extra cable length, so that was nice. Obviously, this will depend on how big your power supply (or whatever you're putting under there) is.
Usable but Dissapointing
I've never written a review before but since this product doesn't have any I thought I should give some info for any possible buyers. I got these brackets recently to mount a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus to my Pedaltrain Classic. I passed on the Pedaltrain brackets made specifically for the Voodoo Lab power supplies because they cover the power supply's air vents which is just… read more bad design. Unfortunately, these brackets have their own issues. Because of the angled design of the brackets, the power socket and courtesy outlet don't sit perpendicular to the slat at the back of the board. With the power supply velcroed to the brackets there isn't enough clearance to plug it in. I worked around this by doubling up on the velcro, sandwiching an extra hook-and-loop layer between the hook on the power supply and the loop on the bracket. Doing this allows for the power supply to be plugged in but there's some tension on the plug because there's still not quite enough clearance. The courtesy outlet is usable with a small/thin plug but anything bulkier like a wall wart that you might use to power an extra pedal will not fit if you use these brackets. When the power is plugged in, there's actually some strain on the velcro making the supply wiggle around even more than it already did. I might try to remedy this by replacing the velcro with dual lock but at that point I'm not sure the brackets are worth using at all. Dual lock alone on the underside of the board would be plenty secure. I suppose one benefit to the brackets is that the power supply doesn't sit flush right under the board and that little extra distance between the power supply and the pedals could decrease noise. In the end I'll probably keep the brackets but it's pretty disappointing that all of Pedaltrain's mounting brackets are poorly designed.
