Oh the horror!
Imagine if you will: you purchase a bag of picks, and several of them have rough edges! I know what you're thinking, those dastardly are pulling one over on me! Well I for one will not stand for it! Is my name Rufus Clayton? Am I on the payroll? None of this bushwackery for me I say! Or, just run some sandpaper over the edge et voila!, a perfect pick that lasts virtually forever… read more & helps you shape your sound. Seriously, these are my favorite plectrums, I use several gauges.
A good material with nice tone and a crisp attack marred by poor manufacturing.
Well, I wanted to try something other than Dunlop picks, and it bit me in the arse. While the Ultem material provides a nice crisp tone and attack, these Clayton picks were poorly manufactured. In the images shown online, they appear to have a smooth, beveled edge like 99% of other picks out there. Unfortunately that is not the case. The edge of these picks are rough, crudely cut… read more and not beveled what so ever. This affects your playing as well, as the pick does not slide nicely off of the strings, and is rather like using a little slice of unsanded wood. The cut isn't even completely even around and is slightly jagged (see image). I contacted Clayton customer service, and all they could do is ask me "have you tried filing it smooth?". Call me crazy, but I didn't purchase your product to have to further manufacture it myself. I do not get the positive reviews for these picks in different gauges. Perhaps I just got a defective bag? Either way, Clayton customer service was anything but helpful, and I will not be back. I cannot recommend this company for your guitar picks.
